Recreational marijuana is legal in New York, and a lawyer for the Amazon Labor Union responded that handing out cannabis is\u00a0\u201cno different than distributing free t-shirts and it certainly did not act to interfere with the election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Business Insider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/amazon-union-new-york-staten-island-marijuana-cannabis-jfk8-2022-4?r=US&#038;IR=T\">reports<\/a>\u00a0that Amazon is alleging that New York union organizers provided free marijuana to workers in an effort to convince them to vote in favor of the union. Amazon is now challenging the vote and claims that the ALU and NLRB suppressed voter turnout.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Amazon made a filing on Friday in which it questioned the ALU\u2019s methods to win the unionization vote. Amazon\u2019s lawyers state that ALU organizers distributed cannabis to workers ahead of the vote and that the NLRB \u201ccannot condone such a practice as a legitimate method of obtaining support for a labor organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, it was made legal for New Yorkers love the age of 21 to use recreational marijuana. Eric Milner, a lawyer for the ALU, told the Associated Press that organizers handing out cannabis was\u00a0\u201cno different than distributing free t-shirts and it certainly did not act to interfere with the election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amazon claimed in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2022\/04\/08\/sore-losers-amazon-plans-to-appeal-landmark-staten-island-union-win\/\">previous filing that union organizers also interfered with employees waiting in line to vote<\/a> and threatened immigrant workers that they may lose their benefits if they did not vote in favor of the union.
