It&#8217;s been hovering in the low 40s for months and that tick down does mark its lowest point yet. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6qWcuvpo6K\">pic.twitter.com\/6qWcuvpo6K<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CBS News Poll (@CBSNewsPoll) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CBSNewsPoll\/status\/1513144445801222147?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The CBS News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/cbs-news-poll-inflation-outweighs-jobs-on-economic-views-prices-force-cutbacks\/\">poll<\/a>\u00a0found that Biden\u2019s approval rating continued to fall, while his approval on specific issues was only in the high thirties. Moreover, respondents rated the national economy as bad, even if they said that the local job market was good.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>CBS News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/cbs-news-poll-inflation-outweighs-jobs-on-economic-views-prices-force-cutbacks\/\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Many do say the job market is good and that jobs have increased over the last year \u2013 but it\u2019s still inflation driving views, and even those who say the job market is ok still don\u2019t rate the economy well. Americans are basing this on personal experience: two-thirds say higher prices have been difficult or even a hardship, and now forcing many to make cutbacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>When people say the economy is bad, it isn\u2019t because of jobs. Just 17% give that as a reason. Negative judgments are overwhelmingly based on inflation, and gas prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Higher prices are leading people to say they\u2019re making cutbacks, especially on more discretionary items like entertainment and travel. (That may, of course, have a wider impact on the economy later.) About half are cutting back on food and groceries, and this is especially the case among those with lower incomes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The CBS News poll, conducted among \u201cadults\u201d \u2014 typically a more Democrat-friendly sample than registered or likely voters \u2014 included over 2,000 respondents, with a margin of error of 2.8 points. In February, as Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/09\/joe-bidens-realclearpolitics-average-approval-drops-below-40-percent\/\">reported<\/a>, Biden\u2019s approval rating dropped below 40 in the RealClearPolitics average of polls for the first time in his presidency.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
