Moreover, 17,314 total flights worldwide were delayed Friday, flight-tracking site FlightAware <a href=\"https:\/\/flightaware.com\/live\/cancelled\/yesterday\">reported<\/a>. In terms of airlines, Southwest saw the most delays with 1,348, followed by Delta\u2019s 629. Of JetBlue flights, 599 flights took off later than scheduled, totaling 55 percent of its scheduled trips. Spirit Airlines saw delays on 378, or 46 percent, of its flights, while 539 of United\u2019s flights were delayed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Airlines were having trouble Saturday as well. As of 3:30 p.m., 447 flights within, into, or out of the United States were <a href=\"https:\/\/flightaware.com\/live\/cancelled\/today\">canceled<\/a>, and an additional\u00a02,226 delayed, according to FlightAware. JetBlue canceled 182, or 17 percent, of its flights by 3:30 p.m., and passengers on 329, or 32 percent, of its flights experienced delays.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Customers took to Twitter to voice their displeasure over delays and cancellations.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Absolute disaster today <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JetBlue?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JetBlue<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kevin Jones (@Mr_KevinJones) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mr_KevinJones\/status\/1512860085017530379?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 9, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>One outraged woman, who goes by the Twitter handle @BagladyKiim, alleged that JetBlue had \u201cinexplicably cancelled\u201d three of the return flights she was scheduled to take home from her last four trips:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">@JetBlue\u00a0<\/span>nice job cancelling our flight 10 hours before take off with no explanation. We have no hotel, need to return car rental and missing obligations at home. Fourth flight in a row by you where the return flight was changed and third where it was inexplicably cancelled.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"css-1dbjc4n r-xoduu5\">\n<p>Hank Lockwood, a producer for Barstool Sports, said he has been hearing \u201chorror stories\u201d of canceled flights.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Not a conspiracy guy but something is going on with airlines. It seems like 80000 flights have been cancelled the last 7 days. Stoolies were coming up left and right in NOLA with horror stories about getting down there and I\u2019ve seen a bunch more issues this week <\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Hank Lockwood (@hen_ease) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hen_ease\/status\/1512204225996013588?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 7, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The delays came after more than 3,500 flights were canceled and 8,800 were delayed last weekend, as Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/04\/04\/thousands-flights-canceled-delayed-spring-break-weekend\/\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The airlines cited different reasons for the mass cancellations and delays. JetBlue\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/airlines-cancel-3300-us-flights-weekend-rcna22758\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">cited<\/a>\u00a0\u201csevere weather in the Southeast and multiple air traffic control delay programs,\u201d as a reason for the delays. Southwest Airlines\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/airlines-cancel-3300-us-flights-weekend-rcna22758\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">blamed<\/a>\u00a0\u201cweather and airspace congestion\u201d and a \u201ctechnology issue\u201d for their cancelations and delays.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has remained mum as travelers deal with prolonged delays and frequent cancellations.<\/p>\n<p>CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/travel\/article\/pandemic-travel-news-storms-staff-shortages-spring-easter\/index.html\">noted<\/a> that staffing issues and weather had each played a role in the airline chaos.<\/p>\n<p>A brewing storm threatens to make matters worse next week as AccuWeather meteorologists \u201csay it could result in a five-day stretch of threatening severe weather as well as a robust snowstorm that could produce dangerous blizzard conditions,\u201d the outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/en\/weather-forecasts\/enormous-storm-could-produce-blizzard-widespread-severe-weather-next-week\/1169168\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham, \u201cNumerous disruptions to travel and shipping efforts are likely, with the potential for power outages as a result of rain, thunderstorms, wind and snow from the unfolding and strengthening storm next week over the middle of the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The storm threatens to bring feet of snow to central Colorado, Wyoming, Western Nebraska, Southeastern Montana, parts of Minnesota, and the Dakotas, according to Accuweather. Intense thunderstorms are shaping up to hit areas from the Gulf Coast up through the Great Lakes between Tuesday and Thursday, while the West Coast is expected to experience milder effects from the weather system, with rain possibly making landfall in northern California and Oregon on Sunday night.
