Chuck Grassley, an Iowa Republican, who has run a lengthy investigation into the Biden family and its overseas business dealings, gave a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/news\/remarks\/the-biden-family-investigation_part-iii-james-biden\">floor speech<\/a> on Tuesday revealing new documents and putting the spotlight on James Biden, specifically his forays into China. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHunter Biden wasn\u2019t the only Biden family member who had connections to the communist regime,\u201d Grassley said. \u201cJames Biden did as well.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hunter Biden is <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/doj-inspecting-hunter-biden-for-potential-foreign-lobbying-violations-report\">known<\/a> to be under investigation for his taxes and potentially for overseas business dealings, money laundering, or foreign lobbying, but no such investigation into his uncle has been made public. <\/p>\n<p>Grassley <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/grassley-and-johnson-revive-arguments-on-biden-family-links-to-china\">said<\/a> he and fellow GOP Sen. Ron Johnson established connections between the since-defunct multibillion-dollar CEFC China Energy, whose since-imprisoned energy tycoon leader Ye Jianming was linked to the Chinese military, and the Chinese government. Grassley said they had also established links between CEFC and the Biden family-linked Hudson West III. <\/p>\n<p>Grassley also laid out the links between Hunter Biden\u2019s Owasco, Hudson West III, and CEFC and said records show &#8220;Hunter Biden and James Biden actively assisted CEFC as it worked to expand its footprint and holdings in the global and U.S. energy sector.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The senator said James Biden\u2019s Lion Hall Group should be added \u201cto the list of Biden family companies connected to the communist regime.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house-stands-by-presidents-claim-that-hunter-biden-didnt-profit-off-china\">WHITE HOUSE STANDS BY JOE BIDEN CLAIM THAT HUNTER DIDN&#8217;T MAKE MONEY IN CHINA<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>White House chief of staff Ron Klain <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/politics\/joe-biden-confident-hunter-didnt-break-law-or-do-anything-unethical-in-china-klain-says\">said<\/a> Sunday that President Joe Biden is confident Hunter didn\u2019t <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/biden-wish-for-trump-prosecution-leaked-as-democrats-mount-pressure-campaign-on-doj\">break any laws<\/a><\/u> despite a current criminal investigation and that he believes his son and brother didn\u2019t do any <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house-stands-by-presidents-claim-that-hunter-biden-didnt-profit-off-china\">unethical business deals<\/a><\/u> with China, although he stressed they were private and &#8220;don&#8217;t involve the president.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Grassley pointed to an August 2017 LLC agreement that resulted in James becoming a manager of Hudson West III, with terms including $100,000 sent to Hunter Biden and $65,000 sent to James Biden every month through a CEFC arrangement. Documents also show several wires from Hudson West III to CEFC. <\/p>\n<p>The Republican said those transactions happened after a $5 million wire from Ye-linked Northern International Capital to Hudson West III in August 2017. <\/p>\n<p>Grassley pointed to a Hudson West III bank record from April 2018, with wire transfers to Coldharbour Capital, which the senator said was connected to Ye associates Mervyn Yan and Gongwen Dong. <\/p>\n<p>Grassley said: \u201cThese new records show direct financial links between companies connected to the communist regime and James Biden through the Lion Hall Group.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The now-infamous \u201cBig Guy\u201d email that emerged in October 2020 detailed an attempted business deal between a Chinese company and Hunter Biden. <\/p>\n<p>The <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/twitter-blocks-new-york-post-article-detailing-hunter-bidens-pursuit-of-deals-with-shady-chinese-businessmen\">email<\/a><\/u> is from businessman James Gilliar to Hunter Biden and others, dated May 13, 2017, and it discusses \u201cexpectations\u201d of a deal while claiming that \u201cwe have discussed and agreed the following renumeration packages.\u201d The email notes that \u201cHunter\u201d would receive \u201c850\u201d ($850,000) and lists him as \u201cChair\/Vice Chair depending on agreement with CEFC.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The email goes on to say that \u201cat the moment there\u2019s a provisional agreement that the equity will be distributed as follows,\u201d including \u201c20\u201d (20%) for \u201cH\u201d (Hunter). The email also asks about \u201c10 held by H for the big guy.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Tony Bobulinski, a former Navy lieutenant who had been business partners with Hunter, is also listed as one of the recipients of the email and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/texts-from-hunter-biden-business-partner-on-china-deal-imply-meeting-with-joe-biden\">said<\/a> in October 2020 \u201cthe big guy\u201d is a reference to Joe Biden. Bobulinski also said the other &#8220;JB&#8221; references in the email is Jim Biden. <\/p>\n<p>Texts from Bobulinski <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/plausible-deniability-tony-bobulinski-says-joe-biden-knew-about-hunter-bidens-china-deal-pursuits\">suggest<\/a> Joe Biden met with him, Hunter, and James as the latter two pursued a potentially lucrative deal with CEFC. The meeting appears to have taken place the night of May 2, 2017, in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n<p>Joe Biden <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/milkeninstitute.org\/videos\/conversation-joe-biden\">spoke<\/a><\/u> at a conference at the <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/milkeninstitute.org\/events\/global-conference-2017\/overview\">Beverly Hilton<\/a><\/u> on May 3, 2017, and texts indicate James helped Bobulinski get credentials to the conference and met with him that day. <\/p>\n<p>Texts also indicate Bobulinski, Hunter, James, and other associates met with Ye that weekend in Miami. Just over a week later, the &#8220;big guy&#8221; email was sent. <\/p>\n<p>Bobulinski <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/plausible-deniability-tony-bobulinski-biden-family\">told<\/a> Fox News he asked James Biden, \u201cHow are you guys getting away with this?\u2019 Aren&#8217;t you concerned?\u201d He claims the president\u2019s brother chuckled, then said, &#8220;Plausible deniability.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>A September 2020 <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hsgac.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/Ukraine%20Report_FINAL.pdf\">report<\/a> by Grassley and Johnson said CEFC announced a $9.1 billion deal with Russian state-owned energy company Rosneft in September 2017, and that the same day, Hunter Biden and Gongwen Dong applied to a bank and opened a line of credit under Hudson West III. <\/p>\n<p>The report said Hunter, James, and James&#8217;s wife Sara \u201cwere all authorized users of credit cards associated with the account\u201d and that the Biden family went on to purchase $101,000 worth of \u201cextravagant items.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The report also said a $1 million payment from Gongwen Dong was sent to Hunter\u2019s Owasco in March 2018 with a memo line for \u201cDr. Patrick Ho Chi Ping Representation.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>When Patrick Ho, one of Ye\u2019s lieutenants, was <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdny\/press-release\/file\/1012511\/download\">charged by the Justice Department<\/a><\/u> in 2017, he reportedly called James Biden, who has said he thought the call was meant for <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hunter-biden?utm_campaign=autolink&#038;utm_source=internal&#038;utm_medium=autolink\">Hunter<\/a><\/u>.
