The original picture shows Biden embracing the President of Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, in Italy.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ruto is running for president of Kenya, with the election set to take place in August, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nairobireview.africa\/mutahi-ngunyi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nairobi Review<\/a>. He traveled to the U.S. for a five-day tour in early March as part of an international trip that also took him to the U.K., Kenyan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuko.co.ke\/politics\/445445-william-ruto-completes-us-tour-heads-united-kingdom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standardmedia.co.ke\/politics\/article\/2001439912\/what-ruto-is-up-to-after-returning-to-kenya-from-uk-us-trips\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">outlets<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>An image shared on Facebook appears to show Ruto laughing and embracing Biden. \u201cFinally, DP Ruto meets Joe Biden in The White House. America,\u201d reads the image\u2019s caption.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/03\/16\/fact-check-joe-bidens-coronavirus-speech-pre-recorded\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Was Joe Biden\u2019s March 11 Coronavirus Speech Pre-Recorded?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The photo is digitally altered. A reverse image search revealed the original photo, which can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/pictures.reuters.com\/CS.aspx?VP3=SearchResult&#038;VBID=2C0FCINZX9K2B&#038;SMLS=1&#038;RW=1089&#038;RH=686&#038;POPUPPN=3&#038;POPUPIID=2C0BF1Y97IVZ2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters<\/a>, shows an interaction between Biden and Tshisekedi in October 2021 at the G20 summit in Rome. Ruto does not appear in the photo.
