Yet, at the same time, regular New Yorkers continue to face forced vaccination or firings.<\/p>\n<p>Waitress Virginia Alleyne, 57, filed her suit with the Manhattan Supreme Court alleging that Adams\u2019 \u201carbitrary and capricious\u201d policy is an \u201cabuse of discretion,\u201d the <i>New York Post<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/08\/yankee-stadium-waitress-files-lawsuit-against-adams-athlete-vax-exemption\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cFor him to allow millionaires to work and to punish the workers who are the lifeblood of this city is just horrendous,\u201d the waitress told the <i>Post<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo many workers have lost their jobs, yet he\u2019s rewarding the millionaires because he doesn\u2019t want them coming after him,\u201d she added. \u201cWe are being punished by a blatant and egregious double standard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After taking office this year, Adams <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/24\/nyc-mayor-eric-adams-mocked-after-dropping-vax-mandate-for-performers-and-athletes-but-not-private-workers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reversed<\/a> the previous mayor\u2019s vaccine mandate for athletes and performers, claiming that his move was \u201cleveling the playing field for New Yorkers and supporting local businesses and performance venues across the city.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The single mother says that she was thrown off the job because she is unvaccinated, yet all these millionaire entertainers and athletes are no longer held to that standard.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.gettyimages.com\/photos\/general-view-of-yankee-stadium-prior-to-the-start-of-the-game-against-picture-id1390313039?k=20&#038;m=1390313039&#038;s=612x612&#038;w=0&#038;h=Kx99nLjvSmvttcThJAnrZci9LPEklxQxbO2dItz-vCk=\" alt=\"General view of Yankee Stadium prior to the start of the game against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium on April 08, 2022 in New York City.\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Yankee Stadium on Opening Day 2022 (Mike Stobe\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Alleyne, who told the paper she does not want to get the vax for religious reasons, called the mayor\u2019s policy \u201cdespicable\u201d for its hypocrisy.<\/p>\n<p>The mother of an autistic 15-year-old son, Alleyne, continued, saying, \u201cI was literally begging for my job and I knew I am not going to be able to take care of my son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been struggling. I can barely make ends meet,\u201d Alleyne exclaimed. \u201cEverybody else folded. Everyone chose to make money. I chose to starve because of the principle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThousands of firemen, policemen, teachers, sanitation workers, restaurant workers and other private sector workers have been fired as a result of this mandate,\u201d Alleyne\u2019s filing insists. \u201cHas the mayor asked the aforementioned terminated NYC employees if they care if the Nets, Knicks, Yankees or Mets are at a competitive disadvantage when they can no longer support their families?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit was filed by New York City attorney James Mermigis, who noted in a Thursday statement that, \u201cToday is opening day. Everyone will be back at Yankee stadium except my client.
