Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada is in danger of losing reelection and handing control of the Senate over to Republicans in November.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Cortez Masto trailed former Republican Attorney General Adam Laxalt by seven points in a March poll by Democratic Blueprint Polling, which showed Hispanic voters evenly split between the two.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cOur Hispanic community believes in the American dream, they came here for the American dream,\u201d Laxalt told the Daily Caller News Foundation. \u201cThey\u2019re not signing up for a lot of this radical leftism that\u2019s being pushed on by the Democrat Party.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Republican Party\u2019s goal of taking back the Senate in November could hinge on the ousting of a vulnerable incumbent Democrat in the battleground state of Nevada.<\/p>\n<p>The state, which President Joe Biden won by a little over two points, is represented by Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookpolitical.com\/ratings\/senate-race-ratings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rated<\/a> by Cook Political Report as a toss-up. A March <a href=\"https:\/\/blueprintpolling.com\/2022\/03\/25\/hispanic-voters-wary-of-biden-in-nv-survey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">poll<\/a> by Democratic Blueprint Polling showed Cortez Masto trailing former Republican Attorney General Adam Laxalt by seven points.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/17\/adam-laxalt-senate-bid-nevada-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Laxalt<\/a>, the leading candidate in the Republican primary, told the Daily Caller News Foundation that Cortez Masto is <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/04\/catherine-cortez-masto-adam-laxalt-poll-nevada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in danger of losing reelection<\/a> because, unlike Democratic Sens. Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin, she has \u201cnot broken from her party in any major issues\u201d during her tenure, despite Nevada\u2019s moderate views.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that\u2019s why we\u2019ve got such an amazing opportunity and such a great contrast with her,\u201d Laxalt said. \u201cThis is a pretty centrist state.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/06\/gop-hispanic-female-candidates-texas-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Democrats\u2019 Worst Nightmare Is Coming True In Texas)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Laxalt, who previously ran for governor in 2018 and lost to current Democratic Gov. (Photo by RONDA CHURCHILL\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>A Stanford University study released in October <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsb.stanford.edu\/insights\/covid-19-having-immediate-alarming-impact-latino-owned-businesses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">showed<\/a> that 86% of Hispanic small business owners closed or reported facing significant negative impacts from the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Biden severely <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/11\/03\/biden-trump-hispanic-voters-florida-ohio-georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">underperformed<\/a> with Hispanics in the presidential election and Republicans have attempted to capitalize on their gains ahead of the midterms. Hispanic voters were evenly split between Cortez Masto, the first Latina to serve in the Senate, and Laxalt in Blueprint\u2019s poll.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Hispanic community believes in the American dream, they came here for the American dream,\u201d Laxalt said. \u201cThey\u2019re not signing up for a lot of this radical leftism that\u2019s being pushed on by the Democrat Party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Laxalt, who called Nevada \u201cground zero\u201d for control of the Senate, highlighted Cortez Masto\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/nevadasagebrush.com\/blog\/2020\/07\/09\/sen-cortez-masto-discusses-black-lives-matter-systemic-racism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">previous support<\/a> for the Black Lives Matter Movement and police reform as a reason the senator is not polling as well with Hispanics, who he said were \u201cappalled by what was allowed to go on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Numerous violent <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/06\/02\/las-vegas-st-louis-police-cops-shot-george-floyd-protests-riots-buffalo-new-york-suv-run-over-chicago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">riots<\/a> broke out in the state in response to the 2020 murder of George Floyd, which inspired protests throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p>Cortez Masto\u2019s office did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>In March, the number of Nevada Democrats who switched their registration to the Republican Party was triple that of Republicans who became Democrats, the Nevada Independent <a href=\"https:\/\/thenevadaindependent.com\/article\/many-more-dems-switching-parties-than-republicans-during-last-three-months\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no question every single month, there have been more Democrats converting to Republicans than vice versa,\u201d Laxalt said. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/29\/key-senate-races-2022-pennsylvania-wisconsin-ron-johnson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: These Are The Most Important Senate Races In 2022)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cortez Masto raised the largest single-quarter fundraising sum of any U.S. Senate candidate in Nevada during the first three months of 2022, raking in over $4.4 million, The Nevada Independent <a href=\"https:\/\/thenevadaindependent.com\/article\/cortez-masto-pulls-in-record-4-4-million-in-2022-first-quarter-fundraising\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. The previous record was set by Nevada Democratic Sen. (Photo by BRIDGET BENNETT\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Laxalt raised $1.35 million in the last three months of 2021, after raising $1.4 million in the third quarter, The Nevada Independent <a href=\"https:\/\/thenevadaindependent.com\/article\/in-senate-bid-laxalt-pulls-in-1-35-million-in-last-three-months-of-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe certainly has an advantage as an incumbent, on campaign fundraising, and of course, she had a five-year head start,\u201d he told the DCNF.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s gonna need it,\u201d Laxalt said. \u201cThey\u2019re going to spend a lot of money trying to package her up and remake her. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be effective. I don\u2019t think all the money in the world is going to kind of fix her actual record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump endorsed Laxalt in August and his Save America PAC has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/?data_type=processed&#038;committee_id=C00787135&#038;contributor_name=save&#038;two_year_transaction_period=2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">contributed<\/a> $5,000 to his campaign.
