Ro Khanna believes that appearing in conservative media allows members of his party to better think through their views on key issues, he explained in a Friday interview.<\/p>\n<p>Khanna, who represents a <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/California%27s_17th_Congressional_District\">district<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookpolitical.com\/pvi-map-and-district-list\">supports<\/a> Democrats by more than 40 points, regularly <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/08\/harris-faulkner-challenges-ro-khanna-police-reform-children-arent-dying-chokeholds\/\">appears<\/a> on Fox News and other conservative <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/24\/ro-khanna-krysten-sinema-donald-trump-dodging-questions\/\">outlets<\/a>. A member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Khanna told Politico\u2019s Ryan Lizza that debating with conservative hosts forces Democrats to anticipate objections to their policies and can even get them to rethink some of their positions. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/01\/rep-ro-khanna-tech-jobs-small-town-america-new-book\/\"><strong>(RELATED: Rep. Ro Khanna Breaks Down How Tech Jobs Can Save Small Town America In New Book)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the reasons that our great politicians, Bill Clinton and Obama, were so effective is that they actually spent a lot of time in places where people didn\u2019t agree with them,\u201d Khanna <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/04\/08\/ro-khanna-build-back-better-manchin-00024014\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He cited a Tuesday appearance on \u201cYour World With Neil Cavuto\u201d in which the two debated Khanna\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/khanna.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/release-gasoline-prices-sky-high-khanna-whitehouse-announce-curb-big-oil\">proposal<\/a> to tax oil companies 50% of the difference between their current per barrel price and the average price between 2015 and 2019. Khanna asserted that his bill would force larger companies to drop barrel prices, while Cavuto argued that the U.S. should increase exploration. So I can have a better shot at convincing the independents in my district because I now have a response,\u201d Khanna said of his debate with Cavuto. He noted a part of the exchange where the two debated President Joe Biden\u2019s decision to cancel a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/20\/keystone-xl-pipeline-scrapped-again\/\">shutting<\/a> down the project.<\/p>\n<p>Khanna argued that preventing Keystone XL from coming online would not impact current oil prices, since the project was not slated to be completed until early 2023. However, Cavuto pointed out that oil futures impact current prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI gave an answer that wasn\u2019t very compelling. Later on, I looked it up and what I should have said is, \u2018Well, Keystone is less than 1 percent of production of oil price.\u2019 But the point is, if I hadn\u2019t gone on Fox News and I hadn\u2019t subjected myself to that debate and I hadn\u2019t probably lost the debate in that moment, I would never think of the counterarguments. I\u2019d never think of the weaknesses in my own point of view,\u201d the congressman reflected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel so much of the Democratic Party right now is, we say if they disagree with us, they\u2019re morally wrong.
