When pitted against Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.19fortyfive.com\/2022\/03\/does-kamala-harris-think-ukraine-is-in-nato\/\">Kamala Harris<\/a>, once considered to be the natural successor for \u201ctransitional\u201d president Joe Biden, Trump won by an even larger margin of nine points, with 44% to Harris\u2019 35%.\n<\/p>\n<p>Trump also has reason to celebrate, according to the poll, with some 87% of voters who supported him in 2020 vowing to vote for him again. It was an increase of two percent over the same poll conducted last month.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden, meanwhile, lost support over last month\u2019s poll. 77% of 2020 Biden voters said that they would support him again in 2024 \u2013 should he run. The figure is a drop of 2 percent over March\u2019s poll.\n<\/p>\n<p>It means that, at least for now, President Joe Biden\u2019s support is declining and former President Donald\u00a0 Trump\u2019s support is increasing. It does not necessarily mean, however, that Biden voters are vowing in substantial numbers to switch their vote in 2024 for Trump.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is Trump Running?<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>In an interview published on Thursday, former President Trump repeated a previous suggestion that his health may be a factor that encourages him not to run for office again in 2024. At 75 years old, the former president would be 78 years old by the time of the 2024 election campaign and into his 80s by the time he hypothetically leaves office for a second time.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou always have to talk about health. You look like you\u2019re in good health, but tomorrow, you get a letter from a\u00a0 doctor saying come see me again,\u201d Trump told the Washington Post. \u201cThat\u2019s not good when they use the word \u2018again.\u2019\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>When asked specifically whether he intends to run again in 2024, he told the paper that he didn\u2019t want to comment.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut, I think a lot of people are going to be very happy by my decision, because it\u2019s a little boring now,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/04\/07\/trump-interview-jan6\/\">the former president said.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10696249\/Trump-75-admits-health-stop-running-president-2024.html\">some columnists<\/a> suggest that Trump\u2019s comments indicate he is considering <em>not<\/em> running, his comments actually indicate that he <em>is<\/em> considering running.<\/p>\n<p>The former president has said on multiple occasions that he cannot officially announce a third run for the White House without facing stricter campaign finance rules for his Save America PAC. Should Trump announce a third run, his ability to use that PAC money to assist America First candidates would be hindered.\n<\/p>\n<p>One Democratic super PAC, however, filed a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission on March 14 accusing him of breaking campaign finance laws by spending political funds on a 2024 bid without formally declaring his intention to run.\n<\/p>\n<p>The complaint cites the former president\u2019s own words to prove that he is running again in 2024.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know what I\u2019m going to do, but we\u2019re not supposed to be talking about it yet from the standpoint of campaign finance laws,\u201d the former president said in the fall of last year.\n<\/p>\n<p>Jessica Floyd, the president of the American Bridge PAC which filed the complaint, said that Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/03\/14\/us\/politics\/trump-campaign-fec-violation.html\">\u201cshould have to adhere to the law in a way that all other candidates do.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Combined with the many Save America rallies hosted by the former president over the last year, it looks increasingly likely that a third Trump campaign is on the way \u2013 and could be announced sometime after the November midterm elections.\n<\/p>\n<p><em>Jack Buckby is a British author, counter-extremism researcher, and journalist based in New York.
