He does not appear to have a verified Twitter account.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Murray is a renowned actor well-known for his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000195\/\"><span>roles<\/span><\/a><span> in films such as \u201cGroundhog Day\u201d and \u201cLost in Translation.\u201d An image shared on Facebook claims he recently offered his thoughts about social media. The image shows what appears to be a tweet from Murray that reads, \u201cSocial media is training us to compare our lives, instead of appreciating everything we are. No wonder it\u2019s making us depressed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There is no record of Murray sending such a tweet. The actor does not have <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=bill%20murray&#038;src=typed_query&#038;f=user\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a>, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/culture\/culture-desk\/bill-murray-internet-jester\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New Yorker<\/a>, nor does he appear to have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/search\/people\/?q=bill%20murray\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook<\/a> or Instagram account. The tweet featured in the Facebook post stems from an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BiIIMurray\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">account<\/a> that has since been suspended, <span> though an <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200422140050\/https:\/\/twitter.com\/BiIIMurray\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">archived<\/a> version of it states the profile was a parody account.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>While there is no evidence Murray authored the alleged tweet, he has previously lamented <\/span><span>the role social media plays in society. \u201cMy only problem with it is that people now feel they should document their life rather than live it,\u201d the actor told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-5795959\/Bill-Murray-laments-rise-social-media-People-document-life-live-it.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daily Mail<\/a> in 2018. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2019\/10\/29\/fact-check-bill-murray-lie-government-felony-politics-quote\/\">(RELATED: Did Bill Murray Say, \u2018So, If We Lie To The Government, It\u2019s A Felony.
