The vote will be finalized once a final senator has been accounted for.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson\u2019s confirmation was buttressed with the help of three Republicans: Mitt Romney (R-UT), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Susan Collins (R-ME). Jackson is the first black woman to be confirmed to the nation\u2019s highest court.<\/p>\n<p>Romney\u2019s vote in particular is unusual because it\u2019s a flip from his earlier vote against Jackson to take a spot on an appeals court. Senators rarely support a nominee for the Supreme Court after voting against the same nominee for a spot on a lower court.<\/p>\n<p>During her confirmation hearings, GOP lawmakers hammered Jackson on her past record of soft sentences for convicted child porn users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we found was 10 cases where she\u2019s weighed in on child pornography,\u201d Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/sen-marsha-blackburn-explains-ketanji-brown-jacksons-history-with-child-porn-sentencing\">The Daily Wire<\/a> last month. \u201cEight of those 10 cases, she was below the minimum sentence. \u2026 And this ranged anywhere from 14% to 88%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were two cases where she didn\u2019t have judicial discretion, and those cases were right at the guidelines,\u201d Blackburn said. \u201cBut what she did by and large, when she had \u2014 when she was given that discretion, she went below the guidelines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jackson has also been attacked for her past support of Critical Race Theory (CRT) thinkers and the inclusion of the controversial theory in her legal philosophy. The judge also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-nominee-serves-on-board-of-dc-school-promoting-critical-race-theory\">serves<\/a>\u00a0on the board of a Washington, D.C., school that promotes CRT in its curriculum. In a number of past speeches and lectures, Jackson has promoted CRT and legitimized affiliated terms such as \u201cmicroaggression.\u201d As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/bidens-supreme-court-pick-championed-advocates-of-critical-race-theory-in-lectures-speeches\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>A review of a handful of Jackson\u2019s lectures and speeches from the past seven years shows that the nominee has a strong appreciation for leading proponents of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/what-is-critical-race-theory-breaking-down-the-ideology-thats-hitting-schools-across-the-country\">CRT<\/a>, a progressive idea that holds in part: \u201cracism is endemic to, rather than a deviation from, American norms,\u201d legal scholar Kimberle Crenshaw, who coined the term, wrote in 1989. While Jackson has avoided openly championing CRT, she has complimented its advocates and suggested that the progressive theory informs her legal analysis.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a contrast to Romney, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) voted against her nomination. Graham voted in Jackson\u2019s favor after she was nominated to the U.S. Court of appeals for the D.C. Circuit last year. Graham announced and explained his decision to vote against Jackson on Monday. As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/activist-to-the-core-lindsey-graham-explains-why-ketanji-brown-jackson-is-the-first-scotus-nominee-he-wont-vote-for\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019ll vote no,\u201d Graham began. \u201cFirst time I\u2019ve ever voted against any Supreme Court nominee. Let me tell you how I got there.\u201d Graham pointed out that he did vote for Jackson\u2019s confirmation to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, because he expected a Democratic president to appoint liberal judges to the federal courts, but said that \u201cthe Supreme Court is different from the Circuit Court.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNow that you\u2019re talking about the Supreme Court, you\u2019re\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/what-gives-them-the-right-to-do-that-cornyn-grills-jackson-on-unenumerated-rights-judicial-policy-making\">making policy<\/a>, not just bound by it,\u201d he said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Graham also pointed out that Judge Jackson\u2019s nomination had a \u201cpolitical moment.\u201d He expressed contentment with the decision to nominate a black woman to the court, saying it would make the Court \u201clook more like America.\u201d But Graham claimed Judge Jackson\u2019s nomination was \u201cembraced by the most radical people in the Democratic movement, to the exclusion of everybody else. After four days of hearings, I now know why the left likes her so much.
