I am happier, I am more present, I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p><span>According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alicegwalton\/2017\/06\/30\/a-run-down-of-social-medias-effects-on-our-mental-health\/?sh=63db6e612e5a\"><span>Forbes<\/span><\/a><span>, social media sites have been linked to \u201cless moment-to-moment happiness and less life satisfaction\u201d and can lead to feelings of jealousy. Experts note the positives of staying connected with people far away but also recommend taking breaks as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Gomez also discussed her bipolar diagnosis and how it has affected her life. She said it was \u201creally freeing to have the information\u201d and put a name to what she was experiencing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAfter years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar and so when I go to know more information, it actually helps me,\u201d the actress told Miley Cyrus during an Instagram Live discussion. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t scare me once I know it. I think people get scared of that, right?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She said in the case of being bipolar, being armed with information was crucial. \u201cWhen I finally said what I was gonna say, I wanted to know everything about it and it took the fear away,\u201d Gomez told Cyrus. \u201cWhen I was younger, I was scared of thunderstorms, and my mom bought me all these different books on thunderstorms, [saying], \u2018The more that you educate yourself on this, the more that you\u2019re not gonna be afraid.\u2019 And it completely worked.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>While speaking with \u201cGMA,\u201d the Disney alum also talked about her plans for the next decade of her life following her milestone birthday this July. <\/span><span>\u201cI couldn\u2019t be more thrilled to step into this chapter alone, independently, strong, confidently,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s all I really want, you know? I\u2019m excited [to turn 30].\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Previously, Gomez dated fellow celebrities including Nick Jonas, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and Russian-German DJ Zedd. The singer <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/selena-gomez-on-justin-bieber-relationship-i-was-a-victim-to-certain-abuse\"><span>alluded to \u201cemotional abuse\u201d<\/span><\/a><span> during her romantic partnership with Bieber, which is a concept she\u2019s explored in lyrics to her songs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The star said, \u201cI had to find a way to understand it as an adult.
