If confirmed, Jackson will take the spot of outgoing Justice Stephen Breyer as President Joe Biden\u2019s first nominee to the nation\u2019s highest court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As of Wednesday evening, three Republicans \u2014 Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) \u2014 will vote in favor of Jackson.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAfter reviewing Judge Jackson\u2019s record and testimony, I have concluded that she is a well-qualified jurist and a person of honor,\u201d Romney <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/third-republican-senator-announces-they-will-vote-to-put-controversial-biden-nominee-on-supreme-court\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span> in a statement. \u201cWhile I do not expect to agree with every decision she may make on the Court, I believe that she more than meets the standard of excellence and integrity. I congratulate Judge Jackson on her expected confirmation and look forward to her continued service to our nation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Jackson has garnered controversy during her nomination process due to her history of giving some criminals convicted of child pornography charges lighter sentences than those recommended by federal guidelines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During Jackson\u2019s confirmation hearings, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cruz-pulls-out-white-board-to-show-scotus-nominee-her-record-on-sentencing-child-porn-offenders\"><span>used<\/span><\/a><span> a white board to highlight her record on child pornography cases. In one example, Jackson gave a sentence of 28 months when a prosecutor was asking for 79-97 months. In another, a prosecutor asked for 24 months and Jackson imposed a three-month sentence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cEvery single case, 100% of them, when prosecutors came before you with child pornography cases, you sentenced the defenders to substantially below, not just the guidelines, which are way higher, but what the prosecutor asked for, on average, of these cases, 47.2% less,\u201d Cruz said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) also asked Jackson if she could define the term \u201cwoman.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cCan you provide a definition for the word \u2018woman\u2019?\u201d Blackburn inquired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cCan I provide a definition?\u201d Jackson repeated the question.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cMmhmm, yeah,\u201d Blackburn confirmed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI can\u2019t,\u201d Jackson replied.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYou can\u2019t?\u201d Blackburn asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNot \u2014 in this context, I\u2019m not a biologist,\u201d Jackson laughed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSo you believe the meaning of the word \u2018woman\u2019 is so unclear and controversial that you can\u2019t give me a definition?\u201d Blackburn continued to press.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSenator, in my work as a judge, what I do is I address disputes,\u201d Jackson pushed back, suggesting that she could only provide a decision based on arguments and the law. \u201cIf there is a dispute about a definition, people make arguments and I look at the law and I decide, so \u2014 I\u2019m not \u2014\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe fact that you can\u2019t give me a straight answer about something as fundamental as what a woman is underscores the dangers of the kind of progressive education that we are hearing about,\u201d Blackburn continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
