A spokesperson for the organization said the tweet was fake.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Social media users are sharing a screen grab of an alleged tweet from the WEF\u2019s verified Twitter account that reads, \u201cAs humanity moves further toward a post-carbon future people must accept that things like eating meat and property ownership is simply unsustainable, says Klaus Schwab.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/about\/klaus-schwab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Schwab<\/a> is the founder and executive chairman of the WEF.<\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence to suggest the organization published such a tweet. Check Your Fact reviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=unsustainable%20(from%3Awef)&#038;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WEF\u2019s verified Twitter account<\/a> and found no record of the alleged tweet or anything similar. <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220324224303\/https:\/\/twitter.com\/wef\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Archived<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/https:\/\/twitter.com\/wef\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">versions<\/a> of the verified account likewise show no trace of the purported message.<\/p>\n<p>Check Your Fact found no mention of the WEF or Schwab calling for the abolishment of private property on the WEF\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/press\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>, or on Schwab\u2019s personal <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=unsustainable%20(from%3AProfKlausSchwab)&#038;src=typed_query&#038;f=top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a> account. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/04\/01\/fact-check-bill-gates-klaus-schwab-covid-greater-control-mankind\/\">(RELATED: Did Bill Gates And Klaus Schwab Make These Statements About How COVID-19 Will Lead To Greater \u2018Control\u2019 Over Mankind?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis statement was not made by Professor Schwab,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alem-tedeneke-5ab30632\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alem Tedeneke<\/a>, a WEF spokesperson, in an email to Check Your Fact. She also denied the claim that the WEF published such a tweet.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2019\/06\/you-will-be-eating-replacement-meats-within-20-years-heres-why\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article<\/a> published on the WEF\u2019s website in 2019 suggested that \u201creplacement meats\u201d would replace traditional meats and proteins within 20 years. The claim about property ownership may be based on a social media video the WEF released in 2016 in which one man predicts no one will own any property by 2030, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/uk-factcheck-wef-idUSKBN2AP2T0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/uk-factcheck-wef-idUSKBN2AP2T0&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1649246709466000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2ezwWD3vEr31KPcAvpKiZK\">Reuters<\/a>.
