They are actually still connected to their mother, even though they are outside the womb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s in that interchange between the mother and the child those motor neurons come to life that the child realizes themselves as an individual and as a creative person,\u201d the author explained. \u201cAnd can go forth on his own. This is a spiritual task of motherhood that we don\u2019t think about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kelly pointed out Klavan\u2019s comment that perhaps \u201cby losing our genders and our mortality we will have lost our essential selves.\u201d\u00a0Their chat picks up in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=cDIq7z1Fzzs\">longer\u00a0clip<\/a> and starts at the 59:35 minute mark.<\/p>\n<p>The host asked Klavan about his claim that the \u201chumanizing task of feminity\u201d includes \u201ccreating life out of matter, homes out of houses, minds out of brains, and souls out of bodies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThink about that, perhaps your feminity is essential to self or your masculinity depending on the case,\u201d Kelly shared. \u201cI never thought of my femininity as central to my essential self. But it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me this whole discussion explains why I personally and many other women and men for that matter have such a visceral reaction \u2026 when you use terms like \u2018chest feeding\u2019 or like \u2018people who have vaginas\u2019 instead of women, \u2018birthing peoples,&#8217;\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s offensive,\u201d Kelly continued. \u201cIt deeply cuts. I haven\u2019t been able to define why. I just know it\u2019s really offensive to me. That is not an inclusive effort. That this is an effort, along the Mary Shelley lines, of eradicating women. Of erasing us entirely.
