Trump is sitting at the desk in the original photo.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lavrov became Russia\u2019s foreign minister in 2004, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/20200121-sergei-lavrov-the-inscrutable-face-of-russian-diplomacy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">France 24<\/a>. He recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/russias-lavrov-no-doubt-that-solution-ukraine-crisis-will-be-found-2022-03-03\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">expressed<\/a> his conviction that Russia would continue its military operation in Ukraine until \u201cthe end\u201d despite growing condemnation over alleged war crimes involving the deaths of civilians in multiple cities across the country, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rferl.org\/a\/ukraine-russia-bucha-killings-atrocities-condemnation\/31784634.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Radio Free Europe<\/a> reported<b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An image shared on Twitter March 25 appears to show Trump standing next to the desk in the Oval Office as Lavrov occupies the chair. \u201cTrump is the only President to let an enemy of the state sit at a President\u2019s desk,\u201d reads the tweet\u2019s text.<\/p>\n<p>The image is altered. A reverse image search reveals Trump shared the original, unedited version of the photo on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B56P0q9hw7y\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram<\/a> in December 2019. It shows Trump seated at the desk while Lavrov stands beside him.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B56P0q9hw7y\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cJust had a very good meeting with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and representatives of Russia,\u201d reads the Instagram post\u2019s caption. \u201cDiscussed many items including Trade, Iran, North Korea, INF Treaty, Nuclear Arms Control, and Election Meddling.
