Tom Cotton defended Senate floor remarks in which he claimed that Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson would have defended Nazis at the Nuremberg trials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Judge Jackson represented terrorists in three cases and she called American soldiers war criminals. I have no patience for it,\u201d Cotton told reporters on Wednesday, according to Politico\u2019s Burgess Everett. During her time as a federal public defender, Jackson worked on the defense teams of several Guantanamo Bay terrorism detainees, activities that Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee repeatedly <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/22\/republicans-ketanji-brown-jackson-defense-guantanamo-bay-terrorists\/\">raised<\/a> during her confirmation hearings. Jackson, who served as the lead American prosecutor at the Nuremberg trials following World War II.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know the last Justice Jackson left the Supreme Court to go to Nuremberg and prosecute the case against the Nazis. This Judge Jackson might have gone there to defend them,\u201d Cotton <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=c0IEmM81X4M\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prominent liberals blasted the comparison, with Democratic National Committee chairman Jaime Harrison <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/06\/dnc-chairman-jaime-harrison-tom-cotton-maggot-infested-man\/\">calling<\/a> Cotton a \u201cmaggot-infested man\u201d who \u201cdoesn\u2019t deserve to be in the U.S. Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cH<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">e doesn\u2019t even realize he just came out against due process. What a joke,\u201d Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IlhanMN\/status\/1511464573311885312\">added<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Senate Democrats expect to confirm Jackson to the Supreme Court to replace Associate Justice Stephen Breyer by Friday. Republicans Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Mitt Romney of Utah have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/04\/susan-collins-votes-with-democrats-ketanji-brown-jackson-discharge-motion\/\">pledged<\/a> to join all 50 Democrats in supporting Jackson\u2019s nomination.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson has defended her record as a defense attorney, citing criminal defendants\u2019 constitutional rights to an attorney.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people who were being accused by our government of having engaged in actions related to this, under our constitutional scheme, were entitled to representation, were entitled to be treated fairly. That\u2019s what makes our system the best in the world.
