Mark Milley<\/a> predicted in early February that a Russian invasion of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/world\/conflicts\/ukraine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ukraine<\/a> could take Kyiv in just &#8220;72 hours,&#8221; a far cry from the monthlong conflict Russia and Ukraine are now engaged in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Milley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/gen-milley-says-kyiv-could-fall-within-72-hours-if-russia-decides-to-invade-ukraine-sources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">delivered the dire prediction<\/a> for Ukraine to Congress during closed hearings on Feb. 2 and Feb. 3, saying Ukraine would likely lose 15,000 troops compared to Russia&#8217;s 4,000. Milley arrived to Congress to deliver another prediction Tuesday, this time saying the war in Ukraine could last &#8220;years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Bill Keating, D-Mass., <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/05\/russian-invasion-of-ukraine-likely-could-not-be-stopped-us-general-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pressed Milley<\/a> on what he now thought the timeline of the conflict would be.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s a bit early, still,&#8221; Milley responded. &#8220;Even though we\u2019re a month-plus into the war, there is much of the ground war left in Ukraine. But I do think this is a very protracted conflict, and I think it\u2019s at least measured in years. Two days before Kabul fell to the Taliban, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/blinken-vacationing-hamptons-hours-before-kabul-fell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">administration officials were predicting<\/a> that Afghan security forces would fend off the extremist group until at least late fall 2021.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So the question now is, where do they go from here?
