Debate on the amendments Tuesday lasted eight hours, with Democrats proposing measures such as renaming the bill the \u201cDiscrimination Capital of the United States Act,\u201d allowing high schools to opt out of the requirements and only allowing school bands to perform at girls\u2019 sporting events.<\/p>\n<p>The House then voted 82 to 28 to pass the \u201cSave Women\u2019s Sports Act,\u201d which <a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/SC\/text\/H4608\/2021\">bans<\/a> males from female sports in public schools at the secondary and postsecondary levels and allows schools to sue for damages over violations. Gender is determined by the sex listed on athletes\u2019 original birth certificates under the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[R]equiring the designation of separate sex-specific athletic teams or sports is necessary to maintain fairness for women\u2019s athletic opportunities,\u201d the bill text stated.<\/p>\n<p>Male sports teams could still choose to admit females under the bill, and co-ed teams would also be permitted.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">How is it fair to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/FemaleAthletes?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#FemaleAthletes<\/a> that they are being forced to compete against biological males, who have a CLEAR advantage?!<\/p>\n<p>Just look at how Lia Thomas\u2019s starting dive compares to fellow swimmers.<\/p>\n<p>We MUST fight for fairness in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WomensSports?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WomensSports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Independent Women\u2019s Forum (@IWF) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IWF\/status\/1510280142240768008?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 2, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The House also passed an amendment creating girls\u2019 high school wrestling teams, according to the AP. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/04\/united-kingdom-transgender-cross-sex-hormones\/\">(RELATED: UK Doctors Receive Cash For Peddling Trans Hormones: REPORT)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Carolina is the latest of about a dozen GOP-led states moving to ban males from girls\u2019 and women\u2019s sports, the AP reported. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/01\/desantis-biological-males-womens-sports-bill\/\">Florida<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/12\/mississippi-tate-reeves-transgender-athletes\/\">Mississippi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/03\/kristi-noem-trans-athletes-womens-sports\/\">South Dakota<\/a> have enacted similar laws recently, and Utah\u2019s legislature <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/25\/utah-override-spencer-cox-biological-men-womens-sports\/\">overrode<\/a> its Republican governor\u2019s veto of a similar bill March 21. Indiana\u2019s Republican governor <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/23\/eric-holcomb-indiana-spencer-cox-utah-transgender-sports\/\">vetoed<\/a> a Save Women\u2019s Sports bill March 23.<\/p>\n<p>The bill now heads to the state Senate and, if passed, will require Republican Gov.
