If they know about it, they\u2019re ready to learn about it, right?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He argued that the young children would inevitably be exposed to LGBTQ issues through social media: \u201cSo there is no, you now, what we think is always age-appropriate; it is if they don\u2019t know about it, they haven\u2019t been exposed to it, and yeah, you can give them time to develop, but once they\u2019ve been exposed to it \u2014 and social media\u2019s gonna do it, right \u2014 I know some kindergartners in this school with cell phones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMine had a cell phone,\u201d he admitted, \u201cand so they get access to information. They can learn quickly; the world is teaching them faster than probably you are. And so the extent to which we can have conversations with parents around \u2018How do we want to approach talking about LGBTQ+\u2019 because there are students as early as kindergarten who are identifying as non-gender conforming \u2026 non binary, transgender.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd so because they\u2019re in our school, they\u2019re in our classrooms, then that becomes a responsibility on the adults to say, \u2018Okay.
