When she first ran for the Georgia governorship in 2018, Abrams was dealing with a \u201chefty bill from the IRS\u201d and was worth only $109,000, the outlet noted.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201chefty\u201d tax bill from the IRS was $54,000, with a further $410,000 in liabilities, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/stacey-abrams-two-homes-campaign-debt\">according<\/a> to Fox News. She owed $96,000 in student loan debt and $83,000 in credit card debt, AP reported.<\/p>\n<p>Abrams\u2019 personal financial issues led Republicans and some people in Georgia to question how she could possibly be able to manage a state budget while she struggled to stay atop her own, AP reported. Abrams subsequently lost her 2018 bid for <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2018\/11\/19\/stacey-abrams-georgia-not-a-free-and-fair-election\/\">Georgia\u2019s governorship<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Abrams\u2019 political celebrity translated into $5-6 million in payments for speeches and books since 2018, AP continued.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7404054\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7404054\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NEW YORK, NEW YORK \u2013 DECEMBER 09: Stacey Abrams speaks onstage during the 2021 Robert F. She was also reportedly involved in six different books between 2019 and 2021, while another will be reissued later in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Abrams was paid $700,000 over her three years as executive director of the Southern Economic Advancement Project, AP continued. She also reportedly holds stock in a number of companies totaling upwards of $725,000.<\/p>\n<p>Though Abrams did not disclose any payments from her 501(c)(4) Fair Fight Action, the group raised almost $62 million in dark money donations, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/politics\/stacey-abrams-dark-money-georgia-governor\/2022\/03\/30\/id\/1063630\/\">according<\/a> to Newsmax. Ninety-six percent of those donations \u201ccame from only 252 unidentified, large-dollar donors,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2021, Stacey Abrams owned two homes in Georgia worth a collective $1.4 million, according to a Fox News report at the time.
