She punted any additional questions about a special investigation to the DOJ, led by Attorney General Merrick Garland.<\/p>\n<p>An appointed special counsel could ensure an independent investigation of the president\u2019s son, untainted by politics.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki sidestepped a question on whether the White House would support a special counsel investigation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) on Monday\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/hunter-biden-laptop-emails-byron-donalds\">called<\/a> for a special counsel investigation of Hunter Biden\u2019s overseas deals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis speaks to corruption in the White House,\u201d Donalds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/hunter-biden-laptop-emails-byron-donalds\">said<\/a> in an interview on Fox News about the need for a special investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki also said the White House stood by President Biden\u2019s claim that his son Hunter did not break the law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s something the president has said and certainly we would echo,\u201d she replied.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if the White House stood by President Biden\u2019s claim he never discussed Hunter\u2019s foreign business dealings with him, Psaki replied, \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The White House ignored calls Tuesday for an independent special counsel to investigate President Joe Biden\u2019s son Hunter Biden\u2019s shady foreign business deals.
