He was ordered to stay away from two Walgreens employees and two stores, as well as one CVS store.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">A video of Romero <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LyanneMelendez\/status\/1404574079156318210?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1404574079156318210%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailymail.co.uk%2Fnews%2Farticle-10687853%2FBicycle-riding-thief-stole-Walgreens-CVS-San-Francisco-sentenced-16-months.html\">showed<\/a> him dumping approximately $1,000 worth of cosmetics into a bag. Romero then hopped onto his bicycle and moved past a guard who was standing nearby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\u201cIf you call 911, will they do anything?\u201d a woman in the video asked the guard:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This just happened at the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Walgreens?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Walgreens<\/a> on Gough &#038; Fell Streets in San Francisco. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NoConsequences?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NoConsequences<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chesaboudin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@chesaboudin<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uSbnTQQk4J\">pic.twitter.com\/uSbnTQQk4J<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lyanne Melendez (@LyanneMelendez) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LyanneMelendez\/status\/1404574079156318210?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 14, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">District Attorney Chesa Boudin, who now faces a recall vote, previously defended Romero\u2019s actions, describing him as \u201cdesperate,\u201d the <em>Mail<\/em> report said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">In December, Boudin spoke out against Mayor London Breed\u2019s policy to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/crime\/2021\/12\/21\/radical-san-francisco-d-a-chesa-boudin-opposes-mayors-crackdown-on-crime\/\">expand<\/a> law enforcement funding and declare a \u201cstate of emergency\u201d in the crime-ridden Tenderloin district, according to Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoudin, the son of a convicted Weather Underground militant, was elected in 2019 on a promise to pursue criminal justice reform, like his predecessor, George Gasc\u00f3n, the George Soros-backed prosecutor who is now D.A. in Los Angeles County,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the shoplifting surge in October\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/10\/13\/walgreens-closes-five-bay-area-stores-amid-shoplifting-surge\/\">forced<\/a> Walgreens to shut down five additional San Francisco locations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShoplifting has skyrocketed in San Francisco recently, likely a result of Proposition 47, which dictates stealing would not be a felony in California if the item stolen did not exceed $950,\u201d Breitbart News reported at the time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The man seen ransacking Walgreens and CVS stores in San Francisco was freed from prison thanks to a minimum sentence.
