Darrell Issa (R-CA) warned Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Issa\u2019s comment came in response to a question from Breitbart News about the impacts of surging illegal migration at the southern border during a briefing in GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy\u2019s (R-CA) office Monday evening.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe have about 1.2 million people who are legally made permanent residents here per year,\u201d Issa said. \u201cYou just heard that approximately twice that many, 2.4 million, will be admitted here under various release programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Issa made his remarks just after he and several of his Republican colleagues received a briefing from U.S. Border Patrol union representatives about the anticipated repercussions of the Biden administration terminating a public health order called Title 42.<\/p>\n<p>The order permits border officials to quickly expel illegal migrants to the last country they were in before crossing into the U.S., in order to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_20527886\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/04\/200322-h-at503-1021.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">A group of individuals are returned to Mexico after being encountered by U.S. Border Patrol agents near Sasabe, Arizona, on March 22, 2020. The Biden administration however, as a result of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/press-releases\/title-42s-two-year-anniversary-advocates-urge-biden-end-illegal-expulsions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pressure<\/a> from open-borders <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org\/news\/end-title-42-long-overdue-step-toward-rebuilding-our-asylum-system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advocates<\/a>, has scaled back its implementation and plans to fully end it in May, a move Border Patrol union President Brandon Judd said during the briefing will cause \u201cthe floodgates to completely burst open.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ending the Title 42 protection aligns with President Joe Biden\u2019s open-borders posture, which has resulted in unprecedented illegal migration at the southern border. Border Patrol encounter numbers have, for instance,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/stats\/southwest-land-border-encounters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eclipsed<\/a> those seen during former President Donald Trump\u2019s tenure, according to federal data.<\/p>\n<p>Issa, a senior member of the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs Committees, contended that, as a result of the southern border crisis, \u201cthe whole system of legal immigration is being turned upside down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think you have to look at the bigger question, which is, what about the entire world filled with people who aspire to become part of the American dream? What about families and extended families of American citizens who are asking for and trying to get here legally?\u201d Issa asked. \u201cThey are being pushed aside, inevitably, by this large influx, which ultimately does push aside the amount of legal immigrants that can be accepted into this country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Issa added, \u201cI think that\u2019s a tragedy that is in the making. But ten years from now, people are going to look back and say we\u2019ve got to shut down legal and illegal immigration.
