According to Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon, the world\u2019s richest man consulted with The Babylon Bee before purchasing a 9.2% stake in Twitter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cMusk reached out to us before he polled his followers about Twitter\u2019s commitment to free speech,\u201d Dillon reported. \u201cHe wanted to confirm that we had, in fact, been suspended. He even mused on that call that he might need to buy Twitter. Now he\u2019s the largest shareholder and has a seat on the board.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Musk reached out to us before he polled his followers about Twitter&#8217;s commitment to free speech. He wanted to confirm that we had, in fact, been suspended. He even mused on that call that he might need to buy Twitter. Now he&#8217;s the largest shareholder and has a seat on the board.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Seth Dillon (@SethDillon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SethDillon\/status\/1511325246967660547?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 5, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Twitter has thus far refused to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/twitter-responds-to-babylon-bees-appeal-keeps-them-locked-out-of-their-account\"><span>revoke<\/span><\/a><span> its decision to lock The Babylon Bee\u2019s account. According to Dillon, the company wrote: \u201cOur support team has determined that a violation did take place, and therefore we will not overturn our decision.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Dillon said that the account could be restored 12 hours after the company deleted the tweet linking to the Levine article. Dillon, however, refused to acquiesce. \u201cWe\u2019re not deleting anything. Truth is not hate speech,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIf the cost of telling the truth is the loss of our Twitter account, then so be it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Musk \u2014 who now adds the title of \u201cTwitter\u2019s largest shareholder\u201d to his resume \u2014 has promised to \u201cmake significant improvements to Twitter\u201d in the coming months. The SpaceX and Tesla CEO will also be appointed to Twitter\u2019s board of directors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Musk began his shakeup campaign with a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-elon-musk-becomes-twitters-largest-shareholder-after-shakeup-tease\"><span>poll<\/span><\/a><span> to his 80 million followers. \u201cFree speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?\u201d the 50-year-old asked. \u201cThe consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.\u201d The poll came back to show that more than 70% of the 2,000,000 respondents answered \u201cNo.\u201d Musk initially teased creating a new platform of his own and noted that Twitter \u201cserves as the de facto public town square,\u201d yet fails to \u201cadhere to free speech principles\u201d \u2014 and therefore \u201cfundamentally undermines democracy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Technology analyst Dan Ives correctly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/just-the-appetizer-top-tech-analyst-talks-musk-taking-on-twitter-following-big-share-buy\"><span>predicted<\/span><\/a><span> on Monday morning that Musk\u2019s move at Twitter is \u201cjust the appetizer\u201d of what\u2019s to come. \u201cThis is just a starter \u2026 Musk is not gonna do this just to take a passive stake,\u201d Ives told CNBC. \u201cHe\u2019s gonna ultimately try to either really change Twitter in terms of a more active stake or eventually, could lead to a buyout.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
