Some did not,\u201d<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/02\/17\/remarks-by-president-biden-in-a-cnn-town-hall-with-anderson-cooper\/\"><span>said<\/span><\/a> <span>Cooper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Here are the key takeaways from Biden\u2019s first town hall as President of the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cNo Vaccine\u201d Lie, with fact-checkers coming to the rescue<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>On the subject of the COVID-19 vaccine, Biden openly lied about the availability or existence of the vaccine when he came into office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAnd the biggest thing, though, as you remember when you and I \u2014 no, I shouldn\u2019t say it that way, \u2018as you remember\u2019 \u2014 but when you and I talked last, we talked about \u2014 it\u2019s one thing to have the vaccine, which we didn\u2019t have when we came into office, but a vaccinator \u2014 how do you get the vaccine into someone\u2019s arm?\u201d Biden told Cooper. \u201cSo you need the paraphernalia.&nbsp; You need the needle, and you need mechanisms to be able to get it in.&nbsp; You have to have people who can inject it into people\u2019s arms.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Cooper ignored this falsehood, continuing with the discussion.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden says there was no vaccine when he came into office.<\/p>\n<p>That is abjectly FALSE. President Trump brought about the fastest vaccine for a novel pathogen in history.<\/p>\n<p>How does Joe get away with this? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OcFeVbQ3At\">pic.twitter.com\/OcFeVbQ3At<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kayleigh McEnany (@kayleighmcenany) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kayleighmcenany\/status\/1361868170894704643?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Rather than pointing out the inaccuracy, \u201cfact-checkers\u201d rapidly moved to defend Biden\u2019s lie. Glenn Kessler, Editor and chief writer of Washington Post\u2019s Fact Checker, described it as a \u201cverbal stumble,\u201d and a \u201ctypical Biden gaffe.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It was a verbal stumble, a typical Biden gaffe, as he had already mentioned 50 million doses being available when he took office. Ex Trump officials should especially cool the outrage meter, as it just looks silly. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HFjH01lXgH\">https:\/\/t.co\/HFjH01lXgH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Glenn Kessler (@GlennKesslerWP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GlennKesslerWP\/status\/1361879261691396104?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>CNN\u2019s fact-checker, Daniel Dale, defended Biden\u2019s statement, saying that the president \u201cclearly wasn\u2019t trying to claim the vaccine did not exist at all under Trump.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden had said just prior that there were &#8220;only&#8221; 50 million vaccine doses when he took office. I&#8217;m looking into that claim (and a bunch of other claims Biden made tonight), but he clearly wasn&#8217;t trying to claim the vaccine did not exist at all under Trump. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2EtKDWyR7o\">https:\/\/t.co\/2EtKDWyR7o<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Daniel Dale (@ddale8) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ddale8\/status\/1361876593921122305?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>On the subject of Uyghur persecution, Biden says \u201cculturally there are different norms\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>During the interview, on the subject of Biden\u2019s recent call with Chinese President Xi, Cooper asked Biden, \u201c<\/span><span>What about the Uyghurs? What about the human rights abuses in China?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Fumbling on the subject of Uyghur persecution in the context of his \u201ctwo-hour conversation\u201d with Xi, Biden rambled about the Chinese history of victimization as justification for the Communist Party\u2019s strict regime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI talked about this, too. And that\u2019s not so much refugee, but I talked about \u2014 I said \u2014 look, you know, Chinese leaders \u2014 if you know anything about Chinese history, it has always been \u2014 the time when China has been victimized by the outer world is when they haven\u2019t been unified at home. So the central \u2014 to vastly overstate it \u2014 the central principle of Xi Jinping is that there must be a united, tightly controlled China. And he uses his rationale for the things he does based on that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>He then appeared to dilute the immorality of China\u2019s actions regarding the minority Uyghur population, saying that \u201cCulturally, there are different norms that each country \u2026 are expected to follow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI point out to him: No American President can be sustained as a President if he doesn\u2019t reflect the values of the United States. And so the idea I\u2019m not going to speak out against what he\u2019s doing in Hong Kong, what he\u2019s doing with the Uyghurs in western mountains of China and Taiwan, trying to end the One China policy by making it forceful \u2014 I said \u2014 and by the \u2014 he said he \u2014 he gets it.&nbsp; Culturally, there are different norms that each country and they \u2014 their leaders \u2014 are expected to follow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Joe Biden on China\u2019s human rights violations: \u201cculturally there are different norms\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wjmxmBhv6O\">https:\/\/t.co\/wjmxmBhv6O<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UfIBRpwzXO\">pic.twitter.com\/UfIBRpwzXO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1361875816112652288?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Children are the<\/strong> <strong>\u201cthe safest group of people in the whole world\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>On the subject of the COVID-19 vaccine, an audience member brought her young daughter to the microphone to ask about Biden\u2019s plans for vaccinating children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAs we\u2019ve been talking about, the coronavirus is very real and very scary. And it\u2019s especially scary for children who may or may not understand.&nbsp; My children, Layla \u2014 eight, here \u2014 and my son Matteo \u2014 seven, at home \u2014 often ask if they will catch COVID, and if they do, will they die.&nbsp; They are watching as others get the vaccine, and they would like to know when will kids be able to get the vaccine,\u201d the audience member asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Biden responded, saying \u201cFirst of all, kids don\u2019t get the vacci- \u2014 get COVID very often. It\u2019s unusual for that to happen. They don\u2019t \u2014 they \u2014 and there \u2014 the evidence so far is, children aren\u2019t the people most likely to get COVID \u2014 number one.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNumber two, we haven\u2019t even done tests yet on children as to whether or not the certain vaccines would work or not work, or what is needed. So that\u2019s \u2014 so you \u2014 you\u2019re the safest group of people in the whole world \u2014 number one,\u201d Biden continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNumber two, you\u2019re not likely to be able to be exposed to something and spread it to mommy or daddy. And it\u2019s not likely mommy and daddy are able to spread it to you either. So I wouldn\u2019t worry about it, baby. I promise you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Q: &#8220;When will kids be able to get the vaccine?<\/p>\n<p>Biden: &#8220;First, kids don&#8217;t get COVID very often\u2026So you&#8217;re the safest group of people in the whole world. You&#8217;re not likely to be able to be exposed to something &amp; spread it to mommy or daddy&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So why aren&#8217;t school open 5 days a wk <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uvzoWky4Q8\">pic.twitter.com\/uvzoWky4Q8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mona Salama (@MonaSalama_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MonaSalama_\/status\/1361875169577435138?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Yet again, Cooper failed to ask the obvious follow-up question of \u201cIf kids \u2018don\u2019t get COVID very often,\u2019 and kids are \u2018the safest group of people in the whole word,\u2019 why are we forcing children into isolation, often with deadly consequences?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Instead, Cooper moved on to ask when the pandemic is \u201cgoing to be done,\u201d and when we are \u201cgoing to get back to normal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Softball questions instead of \u201cwhere is Gov. Cuomo?\u201d or \u201cwhy didn\u2019t you fire TJ Ducklo?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Despite the scandal unfolding in New York, with Gov. Cuomo finally having<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/02\/15\/us\/new-york-cuomo-covid\/index.html\"><span>admitted<\/span><\/a> <span>error after his administration\u2019s decision to withhold data on COVID-19 death rates, Biden wasn\u2019t asked one question about the man he had reportedly considered to be his Attorney General.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Multiple figures at CNN, the network who hosted this town hall event, have also refused to acknowledge the ongoing controversy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This wasn\u2019t the only topic ignored by CNN. When he entered office, Biden warned his administration of the consequences which would follow interpersonal misconduct. \u201cI\u2019m not joking when I say this: If you\u2019re ever working with me and I hear you treat another with disrespect, talking down to someone, I will fire you on the spot. On the spot. No ifs, ands, or buts.\u201d However, when White House Deputy Press Secretary TJ Ducklo was<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-should-have-fulfilled-his-promise-and-fired-ducklo-on-the-spot-after-he-reportedly-sexually-harassed-reporter\"><span>accused<\/span><\/a> <span>of sexually harassing and berating a Politico reporter, he was only given a one week suspension. He later resigned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Instead, Cooper found time to ask Biden questions like \u201cWhat\u2019s it like?&nbsp; How\u2019s it different?\u201d regarding his return to the White House, and \u201cIs it different than you expected it to be, in some ways?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Moving the goalposts and throwing Jen Psaki under the school bus<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>In December, Joe Biden promised \u201cto bring the coronavirus pandemic under enough control to open most of the nation\u2019s schools during his first 100 days as president.\u201d In recent weeks, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was forced to walk back those claims, saying that Biden\u2019s \u201cgoal that he set is to have the majority of schools, so more than 50 percent, open by day 100 of his presidency. And that means some teaching in classrooms. So at least one a day week, hopefully it\u2019s more. And obviously it is as much as is safe in each school and local district.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When Cooper quizzed Biden on his current position, \u201cnow saying that means those schools may only be open for at least one day a week,\u201d Biden responded, saying \u201cNo, that\u2019s not true.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThat\u2019s what was reported; that\u2019s not true.&nbsp; There was a mistake in the communication,\u201d Biden continued. \u201cBut what I \u2014 what I\u2019m talking about is I said opening the majority of schools in K-through-eighth grade because they\u2019re the easiest to open, the most needed to be opened, in terms of the impact on children and families having to stay home.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Biden then said that they would be \u201cclose\u201d to opening schools at the end of the first 100 days of his administration.
