Mike Lee (R-UT) reacted to critics on the left warning Republicans about the dangers of opposing the historic nomination of Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson by stating that \u201cIt\u2019s only historic\u201d when it\u2019s someone people on the left like and agree with.<\/p>\n<p>Lee said, \u201cThat\u2019s interesting. Because they didn\u2019t, apparently, feel the same way when Clarence Thomas was being nominated, when Clarence Thomas, one of the most decent human beings ever to serve in the federal judiciary, one of the most decent people I know, who was attacked by the left, attacked by some of those same Democratic senators who were making those same comments today, they didn\u2019t call his nomination historic. It\u2019s only historic when it\u2019s someone they like and with whom they agree. They didn\u2019t say that when they were looking at the nomination of Janice Rogers Brown to the D.C. Circuit or of Miguel Estrada to that same court. They just do that when it\u2019s someone they happen to agree with, who matches their leftist political ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>He added, \u201cWe remember the fact that it was Joe Biden who promised to filibuster the nomination of\u00a0Janice Rogers Brown to be on the D.C. Circuit.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>One of the critics Lee was reacting to, Sen. Pat Leahy (D-VT), voted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_votes\/vote1021\/vote_102_1_00220.htm\">against<\/a>\u00a0Thomas\u2019 confirmation, voted no on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_votes\/vote1091\/vote_109_1_00130.htm\">cloture<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_votes\/vote1091\/vote_109_1_00131.htm\">confirmation<\/a> votes for Brown, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_votes\/vote1081\/vote_108_1_00312.htm\">opposed cloture<\/a> for Estrada. Then-Sen.
