The answer that was given was not reported, though some have claimed the &#8220;big guy&#8221; is President Joe Biden, raising the prospect that the commander in chief could be drawn into a federal criminal investigation. So far, the White House has been adamant in asserting that the president is not involved and that Hunter Biden, 52, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/white-house-denies-hunter-biden-committed-any-crimes-and-dodges-on-pardon\">did not commit any crimes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <i>New York Post<\/i> has led the charge in reporting on the contents of an abandoned laptop that is believed to have belonged to Hunter Biden. While other major media outlets sought to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/new-york-post-takes-victory-lap-following-hunter-biden-vindication\">cast doubt<\/a> on its authenticity and Big Tech companies even took steps to suppress its spread in the final weeks of the 2020 election, in recent weeks, the <i>New York Times<\/i> and <i>Politico<\/i> have come forth with reports saying at least some of the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/grassley-and-johnson-revive-arguments-on-biden-family-links-to-china\">contents on the laptop<\/a> have been authenticated.<\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/biden-wish-for-trump-prosecution-leaked-as-democrats-mount-pressure-campaign-on-doj\">BIDEN WISH FOR TRUMP PROSECUTION LEAKED AS DEMOCRATS MOUNT PRESSURE CAMPAIGN ON DOJ<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>At issue is one particular email, dated May 13, 2017, from investor James Gilliar to himself, Hunter Biden&#8217;s business associate Rob Walker, and James and Hunter Biden detailing <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/10\/15\/emails-reveal-how-hunter-biden-tried-to-cash-in-big-with-chinese-firm\/\">a &#8220;provisional&#8221; business deal<\/a> with a Chinese company called CEFC. The email, in part, asks about \u201c10 held by H for the big guy,&#8221; as well as &#8220;10&#8221; for &#8220;Jim.&#8221; It appears &#8220;H&#8221; is a reference to Hunter Biden, &#8220;Jim&#8221; is Joe Biden&#8217;s brother, and &#8220;10&#8221; is a reference to 10%.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden\u2019s ex-business partner Tony Bobulinski, a Navy veteran, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/hunter-biden-business-partner-says-big-guy-email-about-china-deal-is-genuine-and-refers-to-joe-biden\">corroborated<\/a> the authenticity of the email in October 2020 and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/hunter-biden-business-partner-says-big-guy-email-about-china-deal-is-genuine-and-refers-to-joe-biden\">insisted the &#8220;big guy&#8221; was then-presidential candidate Joe Biden<\/a>. The <i>Washington Post<\/i> recently reported on &#8220;<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2022\/03\/30\/hunter-biden-laptop-data-examined\/\">verified emails<\/a> illuminating a deal Hunter Biden developed with a fast-growing Chinese energy conglomerate, CEFC China Energy, for which he was paid nearly $5 million, and other business relationships.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/doj-inspecting-hunter-biden-for-potential-foreign-lobbying-violations-report\">DOJ INVESTIGATING HUNTER BIDEN FOR FOREIGN LOBBYING VIOLATIONS: REPORT<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The elder Biden has distanced himself from his son&#8217;s foreign business dealings. Over the weekend, a White House official claimed the president is certain his son did not break the law or do anything unethical as it relates to China. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course the president is confident that his son didn\u2019t break the law,\u201d Ron Klain, the president\u2019s chief of staff, said during an interview on ABC&#8217;s <i><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/politics\/joe-biden-confident-hunter-didnt-break-law-or-do-anything-unethical-in-china-klain-says\">This Week<\/a><\/i>. \u201cBut most importantly, as I said, that\u2019s a matter that\u2019s going to be decided by the Justice Department, by the legal process.
