The Daily Caller decided to reach out to all 50 Senate Democrats to see if anyone was willing to offer a definition.<\/p>\n<p>Every single request sent to the Senate Democrats to define \u201cwoman\u201d was met with silence.<\/p>\n<p>Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson also dodged the question during her hearing, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/22\/judge-jackson-marsha-blackburn-woman-definition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">responding<\/a> with \u201cI\u2019m not a biologist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan you provide a definition for the word \u2018woman?\u2019\u201d Republican Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn asked, and Jackson replied, \u201cCan I provide a definition? No, I can\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t?\u201d Blackburn asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot in this context, I\u2019m not a biologist,\u201d Jackson responded.<\/p>\n<p>For some, the definition of \u201cwoman\u201d has expanded to include transgender women, and has also become more fluid to include those who are less rigid in the male-female gender binary advocating for terms like \u201cbirthing people\u201d and \u201cchestfeeding.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/07\/chest-feeding-mother-birthing-parent-left-war-medical-terminology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018Chestfeeding\u2019?: Inside The left\u2019s War On Medical Terminology)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7403922\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7403922\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">WASHINGTON, DC \u2013 MARCH 22: Sen. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Daily Wire podcast host Matt Walsh <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/20\/what-is-a-woman-matt-walsh-non-binary-transgenderism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">debated<\/a> a \u201cnon-binary\u201d couple on Dr. Phil in January, asking one of the guests, Addison, to define what a woman is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not define what a woman is because I do not identify as a woman,\u201d Addison replied. \u201cWomanhood is something that is an umbrella term. It includes people who identify as a woman \u2026 It\u2019s to each their own. Each woman, each man, each person, is going to have a different relation with their own gender identity and define it differently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The battleground over the definition of \u201cwoman\u201d is visibly playing out in women\u2019s sports.<\/p>\n<p>Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer competing in women\u2019s swimming, has received backlash for being able to compete and dominate in the women\u2019s league. Thomas went from being ranked 462nd as a male at the national level to being number one as a female in the 500-yard freestyle. Thomas\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/21\/virginia-tech-swimmer-reka-gyorgy-slams-ncaa-rules-lia-thomas-compete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">competito<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/21\/virginia-tech-swimmer-reka-gyorgy-slams-ncaa-rules-lia-thomas-compete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rs<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/03\/transgender-swimmer-lia-thomas-university-pennsylvania-teammates-letter-sex-gender-identity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">team mates<\/a> have spoken out against the seeming advantage.<\/p>\n<p>Blackburn responded to Jackson\u2019s inability to provide a definition of a \u201cwoman\u201d in the hearing by blasting the recognition of Thomas for being awarded first place in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Swimming Championships.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that you can\u2019t give me a straight answer about something as fundamental as what a woman is, that underscores the dangers of the kind of progressive education that we are hearing about,\u201d Blackburn said. \u201cJust last week, an entire generation of young girls watched as our taxpayer-funded institutions permitted a biological man to compete and beat a biological woman in the NCAA Swimming Championships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-eight Republicans submitted a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/31\/republicans-ncaa-biological-men-womens-sports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">letter<\/a> to the NCAA to ban biological men from competing in women\u2019s sports.<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/25\/daniel-ketanji-brown-jackson-basic-biological-facts-average-american-transgender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: DANIEL: If Ketanji Brown Jackson Has To Dance Around Basic Biological Facts, What Hope Is There For The Average American?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the White House <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/04\/white-house-womens-sports-transgender-athletes-lia-thomas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">refused<\/a> to weigh in on transgender athletes competing in women\u2019s sports, but replaced the word \u201cmothers\u201d with \u201cbirthing people\u201d in the 2022 fiscal year budget released in May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe United States has the highest maternal mortality rate among developed nations, with an unacceptably high mortality rate for Black, American Indian\/Alaska Native, and other women of color,\u201d the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/budget_fy22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/budget_fy22.pdf&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1649200742926000&#038;usg=AOvVaw21TLPuWGoEbDzVDHCL-Ggx\">policy document<\/a> said, recommending certain measures to \u201chelp end this high rate of maternal mortality and race-based disparities in outcomes among <span class=\"il\">birthing<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">people<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biological men have also received acclaim for winning <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/15\/rachel-levine-transgender-woman-of-the-year-usa-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">USA Today\u2019s Woman of the Year<\/a> award in 2022, and for being the most <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/09\/jeopardy-champ-amy-schneider-quitting-day-job-winning-nearly-1-4-million\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">successful female contestant<\/a> in \u201cJeopardy!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>North Carolina Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/04\/madison-cawthorn-gender-burger-king-slogan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">criticized<\/a> Democrats on Monday who choose not to define \u201cwoman\u201d and two genders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe left has ripped away the pin of truth from the author of life, they\u2019ve exchanged natural science for a party platform and declared war on biology. Your left-wing movement is forcing children to endure radical expressions of sexuality, and yet, you can\u2019t even define what a woman is. You might amend a bill, but you\u2019ll never amend biology,\u201d Cawthorn said.<\/p>\n<p>Cawthorn defined \u201cwoman\u201d as having \u201cXX chromosomes, no tallywacker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis responded to the Daily Caller\u2019s question, stating, \u201cu<span class=\"il\">nder<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Florida<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">law<\/span>, \u2018female\u2019 or \u2018male\u2019 refers to the biological sex listed on an official birth certificate at the time of birth.
