There was table pounding, some literal, from a few of my colleagues. They repeated discredited claims about Judge Jackson\u2019s record. They impugned her motives and questioned her candor. One all but called her a liar. They even suggested that Judge Jackson, mother to two wonderful daughters, quote \u2018endangers children.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJudge Jackson is a better person than me,\u201d Durbin concluded. \u201cShe stayed calm and collected. She showed dignity, grace, and poise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cvile\u201d accusations Durbin alluded to stemmed from a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/do-you-regret-it-in-tense-exchange-on-child-pornography-judge-jackson-accuses-josh-hawley-of-preoccupation-with-small-subset-of-her-record\/\">series of questions<\/a> \u2014 from several Republicans on the committee \u2014 about the judge\u2019s record, claiming a pattern of Brown imposing lax sentences in child pornography cases.<\/p>\n<p>As some critics were quick to point out on Twitter, Durbin appeared to have all but forgotten the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh \u2014 during which Democrats sat on an <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/washington-post-claims-republicans-treated-judge-jackson-worse-than-democrats-treated-kavanaugh\/\">uncorroborated accusation<\/a> until after the committee hearings, and then blindsided the nominee with a second hearing based on that.<\/p>\n<p>During that second hearing, in front of his wife \u2014 and prompting officials to have his young daughters removed from the courtroom \u2014 Democrats proceeded to go through Kavanaugh\u2019s calendars and high school yearbooks, accusing him of sexual assault and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/four-really-big-problems-kavanaugh-accuser-joseph-curl\/\">gang rape<\/a> despite a lack of evidence showing that his one public accuser had ever even met him in person.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_364392\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-364392\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Melina Mara\/The Washington Post via Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Matt Whitlock noted that Durbin had been a part of those hearings as well and pointed out the irony \u2014 although likely unintentional \u2014 in the Illinois Senator\u2019s comments, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mattdizwhitlock\/status\/1511026587986284546\">tweeting<\/a>, \u201c<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Incredible Durbin was able to pull this off with a straight face. <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">@DickDurbin\u00a0<\/span><span>joined literal career criminal Michael Avenatti in calling Kavanaugh a serial gang rapist \u2014 but thinks fair questions about Jackson\u2019s record (which they tried to hide) are \u2018vile?\u2019 Get out of here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/senate-judiciary-committee-casts-deadlocked-11-11-vote-on-advancing-biden-supreme-court-nominee\">Senate Judiciary Committee Casts Deadlocked 11-11 Vote On Advancing Biden Supreme Court Nominee<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><i>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
