First and foremost, just thinking about the city of Sacramento, and all the families who are affected. The victims, the survivors, the people that were injured. Just so many lives devastated. So everyone with the Warriors, we all share in your city\u2019s grief.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI know we\u2019ll have a moment of silence before the game,\u201d Kerr continued. \u201cI\u2019ll be honest, I think it\u2019s the right thing to do to have a moment of silence, but I\u2019ll be honest it\u2019s probably the ninth or 10th moment of silence that I will have experienced as the coach of the Warriors when we mourn the losses of people who have died in mass shootings,\u201d an emotional Kerr said before the game. \u201cI don\u2019t think moments of silence are going to do anything. At some point, our government has to decide, are we going to have some common sense gun laws? It\u2019s not going to solve everything, but it will save lives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSeveral years ago, the House passed a background check law \u2014 HR8 \u2014 sponsored by Mike Thompson, a congressman here in Napa,\u201d Kerr added. \u201cIt passed the House with bipartisan support, never made it to the light of day in the Senate. Despite the fact that 80 to 90% of Americans support background checks and you know, you think about all of the common sense laws we could and should put in place.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIf we had any guts, if our government had any guts, if people put others in front of their own career paths, you know, in front of their own reelection campaigns, in front of their own propaganda to manipulate people. It\u2019s right there in front of us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Steve Kerr gave a long, thoughtful answer in response to last night\u2019s tragic mass shooting in Sacramento <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2VD5LWj7ck\">pic.twitter.com\/2VD5LWj7ck<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Warriors on NBCS (@NBCSWarriors) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NBCSWarriors\/status\/1510768243832623104?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 3, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>On Monday, one suspect<\/span><span>\u00a0was taken into custody by Sacramento police and charged with assault with a firearm and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcra.com\/\"><span>KCRA 3 Sacramento<\/span><\/a><span>. Per The Daily Wire\u2019s policy, the name of the suspect will not be published.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Police Chief Kathy Lester told KCRA 3, \u201cAs you know this is a complex investigation and we\u2019re looking for multiple suspects and so we\u2019re currently working to identify what his role was the night of the shooting.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sacramento Kings head coach Alvin Gentry also weighed in, saying the \u201caccessibility\u201d to guns had to change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe gun thing has to change,\u201d Gentry told reporters. \u201cThe accessibility to guns in general, but especially automatic weapons. And this is my own personal opinion. It\u2019s a sad day. It\u2019s a really sad day.
