Republican attorneys general are now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pushing-back-gop-states-file-lawsuit-against-biden-administrations-end-of-title-42-border-policy\">suing<\/a> over its rollback.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to The Daily Wire, Scott, who was Border Patrol chief under both the Trump and Biden administrations, said repealing Title 42 will only make the currently drastic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/u-s-officials-reveal-stunning-projections-for-bidens-border-crisis-significantly-worse-than-2021\">conditions<\/a> worse. But he also said that Biden\u2019s poor border response is better illustrated by his rollback of other policies that are not related to a temporary health regulation \u2014 which he argued still should not be rescinded at this point in time.<\/p>\n<p>Scott pointed to two Trump-era policies that he thinks should be embraced by the Biden administration: the Migrant Protection Protocols, known as \u201cRemain in Mexico,\u201d and Asylum cooperative agreements with Central American countries.<\/p>\n<p>The former requires non-Mexican asylum-seekers to stay in Mexico while awaiting U.S. immigration court hearings. It has not been implemented as effectively under Biden, The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2022\/02\/04\/biden-mpp-mexico\/\">reported<\/a> in February, with low numbers of asylum seekers sent away and courts juggling far fewer cases. The cooperative agreements were with governments in Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador, and would allow America to transfer asylum seekers to the countries to manage some of the claims, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2019\/11\/19\/2019-25137\/implementing-bilateral-and-multilateral-asylum-cooperative-agreements-under-the-immigration-and\">according<\/a> to the Federal Register. The agreements were terminated last February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose are the biggest two that you can turn on immediately,\u201d said Scott in an interview Monday afternoon. \u201cI\u2019m always going to bring up the fact that the border wall system dramatically improved the effectiveness of border agents because it allowed each individual agent to cover a significantly larger portion of the border.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose three things together would change the dynamics and even the messaging by reimplementing that we\u2019re serious about border security,\u201d he also said. \u201cWhat that means is we just expect [migrants] to come to our front door, not pour to the ports of entry, climbing through the windows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Upon Title 42 officially ending, claims for migrants will be processed under Title 8. This will allow the individuals to wait in the U.S. for their court dates. Over 2 million illegal aliens have crossed into the U.S. since Biden took office, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRevoking Title 42 will create an unprecedented surge at the southern border and it will overwhelm law enforcement agencies and non-governmental organizations as well,\u201d the Republicans who filed the <a href=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/cc1fad182b6d6f8b1e352e206\/files\/df71a0c3-dcba-379a-6328-589a80dc4af7\/Title_42_Complaint_Final.pdf\">lawsuit<\/a> argue. \u201cThe U.S. Department of Homeland Security, (DHS), estimates getting rid of Title 42 will result in as many as 18,000 migrants per day \u2013 which could mean 540,000 migrants in a single month.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"css-j7qwjs\">\n<div id=\"post-body-text\">\n<div class=\"e1nzmkc90 css-1s0j25g\">\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
