The remains are now in the possession of the D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which referred The Daily Wire to Mayor Muriel Bowser\u2019s office. The Daily Wire has reached out to the mayor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">D.C. police <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BzrHrG6BcCs\">have not only said<\/a> that the babies were aborted legally but also indicated that the only criminal part of the incident is how the aborted baby bodies were in Handy\u2019s house.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">D.C. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wusa9.com\/article\/features\/producers-picks\/anti-abortion-activists-publish-shocking-photos-of-fetuses-police-seized-from-capitol-hill-apartment\/65-f7742297-eab0-40eb-9895-f00f4766f505\">does not have any specific law<\/a> that bans abortion at any point, effectively allowing abortions through nine months of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe are aware that the Metropolitan Police Department has stated that they do not believe a crime has been committed against these babies under DC law,\u201d PAAU founder and executive director Terrisa Bukovinac said in a statement. \u201cHowever, the laws in question are federal laws enforced by the US department of justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The aborted baby bodies are from Washington Surgi Clinic, a Live Action spokesman said. The clinic declined to comment on the aborted fetal remains to The Daily Wire. Its website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonsurgi-clinic.com\/services-and-care\/\">says it performs<\/a> abortions up to\u00a0the 2nd trimester.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Live Action also said that the babies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=662220535078992\">were in packaging<\/a> from Washington Surgi Clinic and transported to Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services, a management service in Baltimore, Maryland. It did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After a member of PAAU alerted authorities that the aborted fetal remains were in her home, the organization said, the FBI arrested and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/nine-defendants-indicted-federal-civil-rights-conspiracy-and-freedom-access-clinic-entrances\">indicted<\/a> Handy and eight others on Wednesday for an unrelated October 2020 incident for \u201cobstructing patients and providers of a reproductive health services facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">At PAAU\u2019s request, a Live Action member went to Handy\u2019s home and took photographs of the aborted babies.\u00a0Live Action says that the\u00a0photos \u201cindicate potential criminal activity at a local abortion facility, which currently aborts babies through all nine months of pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In statements provided to The Daily Wire, medical professionals said that some of the babies appeared to have been aborted when they were viable \u2014 meaning they could survive outside the womb.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Though officials said that they do not plan to perform autopsies on the babies, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/religion\/2022\/04\/01\/lauren-handy-dc-abortion-fetuses\/\">The Washington Post reported<\/a>, two D.C. officials told the publication that this decision could \u201cchange if they receive additional information.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Baby Boy #1<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kathi Aultman, a retired Board-Certified OB\/Gyn and an Associate Scholar with the Charlotte Lozier Institute, said that she reviewed photos of the aborted babies and found that \u201cBaby Boy #1\u201d was in the 3rd trimester, near term, and appears to have been dead when he was aborted or was not well preserved (since his body has begun to degenerate).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Live Action posted <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LilaGraceRose\/status\/1509997440962863106?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1509997440962863106%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Feditorial.dailywire.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D363993action%3Dedit\">photographs of \u201cBaby Boy #1\u201d<\/a> on Twitter.\u00a0<strong>(Warning: Posts contain\u00a0graphic and\u00a0disturbing images.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cHe appears to be completely normal and was probably aborted using the induction method, which uses medication to induce labor,\u201d said Aultman. \u201cHe looks about the same size as my granddaughter when she was born.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Dr. Kendra Kolb, a neonatologist, who also estimated that Baby Boy #1 is about 30-32 weeks, said that Baby Boy #1 \u201cappears to have been delivered mostly intact without\u00a0evidence of dismemberment, and as such, it is difficult to say how his life was ended.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Baby Girl #1<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Baby Girl #1 is in the late\u00a02nd or early 3rd trimester, according to Aultman\u2019s estimation. Aultman said that this baby girl is larger than most of the babies that she has cared for in the NICU and likely had a decent chance of survival at this gestational stage and size.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cShe has some bruising of the face and some maceration of the skin, which could be consistent with death prior to the abortion,\u201d Aultman said. \u201cShe appears intact and completely normal except for trauma to the neck, possibly from traction applied during the attempt to deliver the head.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Live Action posted photographs of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LilaGraceRose\/status\/1509996789943918602\">Baby Girl #1<\/a>\u201d on Twitter.\u00a0<strong>(Warning: Posts contain\u00a0graphic and\u00a0disturbing images.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThere appears to be an incision at the base of the skull, and the head has been decompressed by removing the brain,\u201d the medical professional continued. \u201cThis is consistent with an Intact D&#038;E or D&#038;X. If the baby was alive at the start of this procedure, it would be considered a Partial Birth Abortion and would be illegal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kolb agreed that Baby Girl #1 appears to be between 28-30 weeks, noting \u201cevidence of deep lacerations to the posterior neck which presumably correlates to the method of abortion used to end her life.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Baby Girl #2<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Baby Girl #2 looks to be in the second trimester, according to Aultman.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cShe has been dismembered,\u201d Aultman said. \u201cHer head has been crushed or possibly decompressed using suction inserted through an incision in the skull. Her skin is macerated, and her tissues appear grey, consistent with death prior to the abortion. She appears completely normal and was aborted using the [dilation and evacuation] technique, also known as dismemberment abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Live Action posted photographs of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LilaGraceRose\/status\/1509997795461283864\">Baby Girl #2<\/a>\u201d on Twitter.\u00a0<strong>(Warning: Posts contain\u00a0graphic and\u00a0disturbing images.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kolb also said that Baby Girl #2 appears to be between 26 to 28 weeks gestation and that this baby was aborted through a dilation and evacuation dismemberment abortion.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cShe has evidence of both\u00a0dismemberment of her upper extremity, decapitation, and organ evisceration as the\u00a0result of this unimaginably brutal procedure,\u201d said Kolb.<\/p>\n<h3>Baby X<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It is not possible to determine the sex of Baby X since this baby is still intact in the amniotic sac, Aultman said. It\u2019s also difficult to discern the baby\u2019s gestational age, she said, but the baby is \u201cprobably in the late 2nd or early 3rd trimester.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The associate scholar speculated that Baby X may have been born alive in the amniotic sac and left to die.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Live Action posted photographs of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LilaGraceRose\/status\/1509998327089278981\">Baby X<\/a>\u201d on Twitter.\u00a0<strong>(Warning: Posts contain\u00a0graphic and\u00a0disturbing images.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAn Induction method would have been used for the abortion,\u201d said Aultman. \u201cUnless this baby was injected with a drug designed to kill prior to the abortion, he or she may very well have been born alive and then left to die. Without rupturing the amniotic sac, it would not have been possible to cut the cord to cause fetal death before the abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kolb estimated that Baby X is between 28 weeks and gestational age.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important to note that all of these babies appear to be of a \u201cviable\u201d gestational age,\u201d Kolb said in a statement, \u201cwhich means that had they been delivered alive at their current developmental stage,\u00a0they would have had a very good chance of survival outside of the womb with\u00a0appropriate support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is also important to note that these babies are pain capable at\u00a0this point in development, and especially those whose lives were ended by a [dilation and evacuation] abortion would be expected to experience excruciating pain during this barbaric\u00a0procedure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The neonatologist added that it is \u201cbeyond horrific and devastating for me as a neonatologist\u00a0to see these images, as these babies are representative of the very same patient\u00a0population that I care for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo then see these discarded aborted babies, and even try to\u00a0imagine what they went through during these horrific abortion procedures is infuriating\u00a0and devastating beyond words,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thelifeinstitute.net\/learning-centre\/abortion-facts\/providers\/former-abortionists\/dr-patti-giebink\">Former abortionist Dr. Patti Giebink<\/a> said she is not sure how the babies are aborted, but said that the ones intact may have been induced and delivered and the more macerated babies probably died sooner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still can\u2019t believe they would abort a nearly full term baby unless there was something terminally wrong with the baby but it doesn\u2019t appear so,\u201d she said. \u201d If they would have measured fetal foot length I could have dated them accurately.
