But amid deep divisions on the issue within his governing coalition, he left it to lawmakers to come up with legislation rather than having the government draw up rules.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Ahead of votes expected in parliament Thursday, there appeared to be no clear majority for any of a variety of proposals \u2013 ranging from the proposed mandate for all adults to bills explicitly opposing any mandate at all.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The 237 lawmakers who backed a mandate for all adults are now proposing a plan under which people aged 50 and above would be required to prove that they have been vaccinated starting Oct. 1, news agency dpa reported.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI think we\u2019re going to push through a motion for mandatory vaccination on Thursday,\u201d the German said <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ZltUHfVMQb\">https:\/\/t.co\/ZltUHfVMQb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1510603022174339076?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 3, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Other adults who aren\u2019t vaccinated would be required to show that they have at least received counselling on the issue. Parliament could decided after its summer break, taking into account the progress of the pandemic and of vaccination, whether there should also be a vaccination mandate for under-50s.<\/p>\n<p>Some 76 per cent of Germany\u2019s population of 83 million has received a full first course of vaccination and 58.8 per cent also have received a booster shot.
