The decision to roll back Title 42 was finalized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10617003\/Ukrainian-refugees-turned-AWAY-southern-border-Biden-carried-Trumps-Title-42-policy.html\">after months of pressure<\/a> from activists and far-left Democrats and is expected to only worsen what has quickly become the largest domestic security disaster of President Joe Biden\u2019s presidential career. <\/p>\n<p>The border is an alarming wreck as evidenced by the more than 100,000 illegal alien encounters by border officials each month. In the last 14 months, illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border skyrocketed and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/02\/01\/bidens-apathy-toward-his-drug-plagued-border-crisis-is-killing-people\/\">traffickers and other criminals have thrived<\/a> while overwhelmed border officials already struggling with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/short-staffed-border-patrol-forced-fill-gaps-local-cops-1679485\">understaffing<\/a> try to keep up. <\/p>\n<p>The decision to repeal one of the only tools left to border officials to combat the growing problems dooms the U.S. to a vulnerable southern perimeter already weakened by Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/02\/debunking-bidens-sotu-border-baloney-line-by-line\/\">open border policies<\/a>, something that some Democrats, especially those in the Senate, say is a dangerous and harmful decision that will only cause more problems. <\/p>\n<p>Sen. Joe Manchin rebuked the policy change last week as <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/news\/senate\/3256527-manchin-bidens-repeal-of-title-42-order-a-frightening-decision\/\">\u201ca frightening decision\u201d<\/a> that would only cause more problems for officials who are \u201cnowhere near prepared to deal with that influx.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both Democrat senators from Arizona, a border state, also had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kelly.senate.gov\/press-releases\/sens-kelly-and-sinema-on-the-biden-administrations-decision-to-end-title-42\/\">choice words<\/a> for the administration\u2019s abrupt Title 42 rollback. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the wrong decision. It\u2019s unacceptable to end Title 42 without a plan and coordination in place to ensure a secure, orderly, and humane process at the border,\u201d stated Sen. Mark Kelly, who is considered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/02\/21\/us\/politics\/vulnerable-senate-democrats.html\">vulnerable<\/a> in the upcoming midterms.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Kyrsten Sinema added that terminating border security policies such as Title 42 \u201cdespite not yet having a comprehensive plan ready shows a lack of understanding about the crisis at our border.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another vulnerable Democrat, Sen. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/democrat-sen-hassan-suggests-opposition-to-biden-dropping-title-42-border\">commentated multiple times<\/a> that Biden\u2019s desire to \u201cprematurely\u201d lift security measures is going to cause more problems for an already-overwhelmed border. <\/p>\n<p>Even New Jersey\u2019s leftist legislators such as Sens. Cory Booker and Bob Menendez\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.booker.senate.gov\/news\/press\/booker-menendez-statement-on-biden-administrations-decision-to-end-title-42\">admitted<\/a> a rapid Title 42 recall \u201cwill only incentivize more irregular migration to the border and create an unnecessary bottleneck effect when it finally sunsets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Senate Democrats who have spoken out against the administration\u2019s border crisis have immense leverage with the Biden administration due to their newfound opposition to the president\u2019s disastrous agenda. While the president focuses on pushing his party to confirm Jackson to the Supreme Court, the Democrats who publicly shamed the administration for creating such a horrific border crisis have the opportunity to boldly reject KBJ in exchange for demanding more border protection and security. <\/p>\n<p>Democrats may have repeatedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/border-agents-senate-democrats-biden-cbp-nominee-hated\">failed to leverage their concerns about the border<\/a> before but there\u2019s no time like the present, when border agents have logged at least 1 million encounters just six months into the 2022 fiscal year, to demand change. <\/p>\n<p> Jackson\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/31\/democrats-are-overlooking-the-seriousness-of-child-sex-crimes-to-protect-jackson\/\">radical track record<\/a> should already be alarming for some of these self-appointed \u201cmoderate\u201d Democrats so it would be fairly easy for legislators such as Manchin, Kelly, and Sinema to refuse to vote for Biden\u2019s affirmative action nominee on the basis of the border. Their potential refusal to accept <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/02\/debunking-bidens-sotu-border-baloney-line-by-line\/\">Biden\u2019s empty border promises<\/a> at face value would force the administration\u2019s hand on the ongoing border crisis or risk losing the KBJ confirmation battle.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping Title 42 certainly won\u2019t fix the border crisis, especially since the Biden administration has already started <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/16\/biden-weakens-border-as-illegal-crossings-cartel-unrest-grows\/\">scaling back<\/a> expulsions, but Democrats threatening to halt the regime\u2019s agenda will certainly warrant further action from the federal government which doesn\u2019t dare risk more of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/meet-the-press\/bidens-job-approval-falls-lowest-level-presidency-war-inflation-fears-rcna21679\">president\u2019s flailing reputation<\/a>. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and co-producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
