Actor-producer Tyler Perry also offered his personal support:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Fortunately there were people there. Not just me, but others, Tyler Perry, came immediately right over there with me. [Said] some prayers.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t wanna say what we talked about, but there but for the grace of God go any of us. Who are we to condemn? I don\u2019t know all the ins and outs of the situation, but I know the only solution was prayer, the way I see it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Shortly after he slapped Rock, Smith scored the Best Actor statue for his role in King Richard.<\/p>\n<p>Will Smith has since resigned from the Motion Picture Academy, saying in a statement released Friday he would \u201caccept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate,\u201d as Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2022\/04\/01\/will-smith-resigns-from-motion-picture-academy-amid-chris-rock-oscars-assault-backlash\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Smith\u2019s resignation came two days after the academy met to initiate disciplinary proceedings against him for violations against the group\u2019s standards of conduct.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20491886\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/04\/wi\/ap\/01\/pictures-of-week-north-america-photo-gallery-presenter-chris-rock-left-reacts-hit-stage-by-smith.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Presenter Chris Rock, left, reacts after being hit on stage by Will Smith while presenting the award for best documentary feature at the Oscars on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
