The plaintiffs alleged that Trump\u2019s challenges \u201csought to overturn the result of the election by disenfranchising voters, in particular voters of color\u00a0in several major metropolitan areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Then-candidate Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2020-election\/2020\/07\/02\/biden-democrats-assemble-600-lawyers-to-fight-election-chicanery\/\">boasted<\/a>\u00a0in 2020 that he had hired hundreds of lawyers to mount challenges in the event Trump won the election. Moreover, Democrats concentrated their turnout efforts in states with large urban populations. And Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/17\/irs-filing-confirms-zuckerberg-grantee-spent-332-million-for-local-election-administration-in-2020\/\">spent<\/a> hundreds of millions of dollars to turn out voters in Democrat-heavy counties in key states. Mass vote-by-mail also attracted close scrutiny in states where it was attempted for the first time.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>But the lawsuit portrayed GOP challenges as an effort to disenfranchise black voters in particular, in violation of the Voting Right Act and the Ku Klux Klan Act. The latter was passed after the Civil War to stop efforts to disenfranchise black voters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefendants\u2019 efforts to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters\u2014targeting\u00a0cities with large Black populations, including Detroit, Michigan, Milwaukee, Wisconsin,\u00a0Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Atlanta, Georgia\u2014repeat the worst abuses in our nation\u2019s history,\u00a0where Black Americans were denied a voice in American democracy for most of the first two<br \/>centuries of the Republic,\u201d the lawsuit <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.224322\/gov.uscourts.dcd.224322.8.0.pdf\">claimed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The judge in the lawsuit was Emmet Sullivan, the same judge who presided over the trial of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, and who was perceived by many observers to have a bias against President Trump in that case.<\/p>\n<p>The Law &#038; Crime blog <a href=\"https:\/\/lawandcrime.com\/2020-election\/donald-trump-and-gop-secure-partial-dismissal-of-lawsuit-accusing-them-of-plotting-to-disenfranchise-black-voters-during-2020-election\/\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Donald Trump and the Republican party do not have to face allegations that they violated the Voting Rights Act in the 2020 presidential election, a federal judge ruled on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The judge withheld ruling on whether Trump and the GOP must face claims that they violated the Ku Klux Klan Act, which for now survives intact. Trump and the RNC lost a separate motion to transfer the remaining litigation away from the Democratic stronghold jurisdiction of Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan ruled that the civil rights groups lack standing to advance the Voting Rights Act claim because the lawsuit focuses on past conduct, yet seeks relief on future conduct.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The case was closely-watched, because it could have damaged future Republican efforts to monitor elections in Democrat-heavy areas, where Zuckerberg and other activists have concentrated their efforts, raising suspicions about ballot integrity.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
