He also added that Biden is confident that his family, including his brother Jim, have not crossed any ethical lines as it related to business deals with a Chinese energy company.<\/p>\n<p>ABC News\u2019 George Stephanopoulos asked Klain several pointed questions about Biden\u2019s awareness and involvement in various business and potentially illicit legal matters relating to Hunter. In a wide-ranging interview Sunday morning, the host of \u201cThis Week\u201d noted that the \u201cDOJ is intensifying its investigation\u201d into Hunter, before saying, \u201cI assume the president\u2019s had no contact with the Justice Department about that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeither the president or any of us at the White House have had contact with the Justice Department about that,\u201d Klain responded. <em>(sic)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs the president confident Hunter Biden didn\u2019t break the law?\u201d Stephanopoulos followed up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, the president is confident that his son didn\u2019t break the law, but most importantly \u2014 as I said \u2014 that\u2019s a matter that\u2019s going to be decided by the Justice Department, by the legal process. It\u2019s something that nobody at the White House has involvement in,\u201d Klain claimed.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">On the Biden family corruption scandal, White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain says, &#8220;Of course the president is confident his son didn&#8217;t break the law.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kn1WHZRDya\">pic.twitter.com\/kn1WHZRDya<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1510622665282838533?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 3, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last week, the Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox13memphis.com\/news\/politics\/federal-tax-probe\/MGWYF5UIYOMEHT4FDFIYLBKE6E\/\">reported<\/a> that a \u201cfederal grand jury has heard testimony in recent months about Hunter Biden\u2019s income and payments he received while serving on the board of a Ukraine energy company, according to two people familiar with the probe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The AP added that \u201c\u2026the grand jury activity underscores that a federal tax investigation into President Joe Biden\u2019s son that began in 2018 remains active as prosecutors continue to examine foreign payments and other aspects of his finances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunter and Biden\u2019s brother, James, have reportedly made millions from foreign business deals that many believe were only granted to the Bidens because of Joe Biden\u2019s political connections as a senator, vice president, and presidential candidate.<\/p>\n<p>In January, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/joe-bidens-son-hunter-and-other-family-members-have-made-31-million-off-chinese-elites-author-says\">reported<\/a> that best-selling author Peter Schweizer claimed that Hunter and other members of the Biden clan have received at least $31 million from various Chinese elites as part of lucrative trade deals in multiple business ventures. Schweizer detailed this alleged money-making machine in an <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/01\/27\/chinese-elite-have-paid-some-31m-to-hunter-and-the-bidens\/\">opinion column<\/a> for the New York Post, excerpted from his latest book, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Red-Handed-American-Elites-Helping-China\/dp\/0063061147\/?tag=nypost-20&#038;asc_refurl=https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/01\/27\/chinese-elite-have-paid-some-31m-to-hunter-and-the-bidens\/&#038;asc_source=web\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" data-ga-event=\"{\" category>Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Schweizer, Biden\u2019s brother James played a role in at least one of those business deals with Chinese elites:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Ye Jianming, a wealthy Chinese businessman and the head of CEFC China Energy, provided $6 million to the Biden family, according to a Senate investigation into Hunter\u2019s activities.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In early 2017, one month after his father left office as vice president, Hunter Biden worked for Ye as a counselor and adviser, and Joe Biden\u2019s brother James received some of the funds that Ye transferred to Hunter.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Five million came in the form of a forgivable, interest-free loan. Ethically, a loan is worse than a cash gift for a politician\u2019s family, because the loan giver can always demand their money back if the recipient of the funds is not doing as they like.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That story was also reported on in Washington Post this past week after the paper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-rest-of-the-country-is-starting-to-open-their-eyes-major-outlets-confirm-contents-of-hunters-laptop\">verified<\/a> the contents of Hunter\u2019s infamous missing laptop. Like Schqeizer, The Post claimed that \u201ca Chinese energy company paid $4.8 million to entities controlled by Hunter and the president\u2019s brother.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While noting the story from the Post, Stephanoplous asked Klain, \u201cIs the president confident his family didn\u2019t cross any ethical lines?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAh, George, the president\u2019s confident that his family did the right thing,\u201d Klain answered. \u201cBut again, I want to just be really clear these are actions by Hunter and his brother.
