Over the last week, they\u2019ve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PxpicYkkYiE&#038;feature=emb_imp_woyt\">released<\/a> a series of reports including <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/29\/senators-release-receipts-showing-direct-payments-from-foreign-oligarchs-to-hunter-biden\/\">bank receipts<\/a> showing that the president\u2019s son received payments from foreign oligarchs that show \u201cthe extent to which President Biden might be \u2014 and almost certainly is \u2014 compromised.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>For its part, the media should take a cue from Johnson, who is asking all the questions they should be. In response to inquiries from The Federalist at a parent town hall in Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday, Johnson shed more light on the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>For starters, Hunter wasn\u2019t the target of Johnson and Grassley\u2019s investigation, the senator stressed. It all started with an investigation into the Russia collusion hoax and the federal law enforcement agencies involved, such as the FBI and Department of Justice, but during the Trump impeachment regarding his phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the \u201cconflict of interest of Hunter Biden in Ukraine just got on the radar.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Unlike the corporate media, which stayed fixated on Trump\u2019s nothingburger phone call, the senators began looking into the Biden family\u2019s conflicts of interest. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we started digging into that, we found a vast web of foreign financial entanglements that certainly concerned us how that might impact and compromise a potential President Biden, and I think now we\u2019re seeing that concern right here,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson added that although his report was \u201cwidely ignored by the media,\u201d more information will continue to surface from Hunter\u2019s infamous laptop. Although the corporate press downplayed as \u201cRussian disinformation\u201d in the run-up to the 2020 election to help Joe Biden get elected, Johnson said it is a \u201ctreasure trove of troubling information\u201d that \u201cshould concern every American.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are questions begging to be asked, and if the media refuse to dig into them, Johnson has made clear he will do it himself:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy did, for example, President Biden cancel the sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline? Why did he cancel the China initiative, which was designed to investigate and uncover Chinese theft of our intellectual property here at universities?\u201d Johnson asked. \u201cCould it be because of these financial foreign entanglements? A part of his family cashing in on his political position? Is he compromised?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These questions demand answers, but corporate journalists have relinquished their primary duty of uncovering and communicating the truth to instead protect some of the most powerful people in America because it serves their partisan ends. <\/p>\n<p>As Biden family information continues to come out, the media will almost assuredly ignore it as they have been doing \u2014 or at least do all they can to make it seem as unsensational as possible. For instance, when the New York Times finally admitted that the Hunter Biden laptop was legitimate, it did so in a bland <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/03\/16\/us\/politics\/hunter-biden-tax-bill-investigation.html\">article<\/a> about a tax investigation \u2014 and just casually mentioned the laptop\u2019s validity <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/17\/after-throttling-the-hunter-biden-laptop-story-with-hacked-and-russian-disinformation-lies-propaganda-press-quietly-admit-it-was-completely-legit\/\"><em>nearly 25 paragraphs<\/em><\/a> into the story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there\u2019s going to be more information coming forward, but we do need to get to the bottom of this because I might not know, the American public might not know, all the details of the Biden foreign financial entanglements, but I\u2019ll tell you who does know: Chinese intelligence, Russian intelligence, probably Iranian, North Korean intelligence \u2014 I would guess there are probably elements within our own intelligence agencies, law enforcement that know, but they\u2019re just not going to tell us,\u201d Johnson said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat ought to concern every American,\u201d he rightly concluded.<\/p>\n<p>When will it start concerning the corporate media?<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">\n  Kylee Zempel is an assistant editor at The Federalist.
