If approved, the proposed rule would hold the weight of law as a regulation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Biden\u2019s move comes as more and more states move to ban transgender athletes from competing in women\u2019s sports. For example, Utah\u2019s state legislature recently <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/26\/utah-legislature-overrides-governors-veto-of-bill-banning-transgender-youth-in-sports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">overrode<\/a>\u00a0Governor Spencer Cox\u2019s (R-UT) veto of a bill prohibiting transgender athletes from participating in women\u2019s sports. Other states with similar laws on the books <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/26\/three-more-gop-states-protect-girls-sports-from-transgender-activists\/\">include<\/a> Texas, Florida, and South Dakota.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Transgender athletes in women\u2019s sports became a nationwide debate after transgender swimmer Lia Thomas\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10625251\/Trans-swimmer-Lia-Thomas-wins-500-yard-freestyle-NCAA-championships.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">won<\/a>\u00a0the NCAA women\u2019s 500-yard freestyle on March 17. Proponents of legislation prohibiting transgender athletes argue they are protecting women\u2019s sports because of the unfair physical advantage men have over women. On the other hand, transgender athlete proponents say laws banning them from competing harm transgender children.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s proposed Title IX rule\u00a0reads, \u201cdiscrimination on the basis of sex includes discrimination on the basis of sex stereotypes, sex-related characteristics (including intersex traits), pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity,\u201d according to the <em>Washington Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The upcoming regulations would also reportedly change how K-12 schools and universities deal with sexual assault and harassment allegations. Former President Donald Trump\u2019s administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/11\/27\/trump-administration-poised-to-issue-final-rule-on-campus-sex-assault\/\">issued<\/a> a rule that provides more due process rights for those accused of sexual misconduct.
