Version: 4.0.47--><div><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">White House press secretary Jen Psaki struggled to answer questions about her ethical standards on Friday after a report surfaced that she was negotiating a massive contract with NBC News.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki was first questioned by CBS reporter Ed O\u2019Keefe about the reports of a media deal negotiated with NBC\/MSNBC.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWell you can\u2019t get rid of me yet, Ed,\u201d Psaki quipped. \u201cI have nothing to confirm about my length of public service, or planned service, or anything about consideration about next plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Psaki, who spent the last week quarantined at home after testing positive for coronavirus, said she was \u201cvery happy\u201d to return to the podium at the White House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBelieve or not, I missed you all a lot,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>She repeated she was in no position to confirm reports about a media deal, and said she would continue to focus on speaking on behalf of the president and taking \u201ctough\u201d questions from reporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that I meet my own bar of treating everybody with fairness and being equitable,\u201d she told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>NBC reporter Kristen Welker asked Psaki if it was ethical to continue her job even while negotiating with a media outlet (ironically the same media outlet employing Welker as a White House reporter).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have always gone over and above the stringent ethical and legal requirements of the Biden administration and I take that very seriously,\u201d Psaki replied, repeating she took \u201crigorous ethics counseling\u201d while serving at the White House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that all of you \u2014 I\u2019ve been working with you for some time \u2014 would judge me from my record and how I treat all of you both in the briefing room and otherwise,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>She claimed she \u201ctried her best\u201d to take questions from a range of reporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI try to answer questions from everybody across the board,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>But Welker followed up by asking her future colleague again about the ethics of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow can you continue to be an effective briefer if indeed you have plans to join a media outlet?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki repeated she had \u201cnothing to announce\u201d about her future career, stressing she would spend time with her family if and when she decided to leave the White House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt whatever time I leave the White House, I can promise you the first thing I\u2019m going to do is sleep and spend time with my three- and six-year-old, who are my most important audience of all,\u201d she replied.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>White House press secretary Jen Psaki struggled to answer questions about her ethical standards on Friday after a report surfaced that she was negotiating a massive contract with NBC News.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":2315279,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mo_disable_npp":"","fifu_image_url":"","fifu_image_alt":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1415530","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1415530","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/24"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1415530"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1415530\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/2315279"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1415530"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1415530"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1415530"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
