She announced that \u201cas many as 720,000 pregnant and postpartum people across the United States could be guaranteed Medicaid and children\u2019s health insurance program coverage for a full 12 months after pregnancy thanks to the American Rescue Plan.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>It is unknown how many transgender men \u2014 that is, women who decide to identify as men \u2014 become pregnant and give birth. The number of \u201cmale\u201d pregnancies is a tiny fraction of overall pregnancies.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>However, there is evidence that there is a higher incidence of unplanned pregnancies among transgender men, due to the misconception (no pun intended) that taking testosterone, which many transgender men use to encourage the development of male secondary sex characteristics, prevents ovulation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is well known that testosterone does not suffice as contraception because it does not reliably prevent ovulation. Unfortunately, a large portion of the transgender community believes that testosterone use represents a contraceptive measure,\u201d a scientific paper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liebertpub.com\/doi\/10.1089\/jwh.2020.8880\">noted<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n<p>The White House also issued <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/31\/biden-administration-promotes-transgender-sex-change-surgery-puberty-blockers-for-minors\/\">guidance<\/a> this week on transgender therapies for children, some of which are discouraged by medical professionals in other countries.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
