They stipulated three requests of Morrow and DirecTV:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reconsider the contract renewal decision<\/li>\n<li>Provide a detailed explanation of why DirecTV didn\u2019t renew the contract<\/li>\n<li>Answer whether anyone affiliated with AT&#038;T had anything to do with the decision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A DirecTV\u00a0spokesperson said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-01-14\/directv-to-drop-one-america-news-in-blow-to-conservative-channel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a>\u00a0to Bloomberg that following a review the company decided not to renew their contract with Herring Networks Inc., which is the owner of OAN. Reuters\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/media-telecom\/directv-loss-could-cripple-rightwing-one-america-news-2022-01-15\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> that DirecTV made up 90% of the network\u2019s revenue. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/17\/att-cnn-one-america-news-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: AT&#038;T To Remove One America News Network From Lineup)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you surely agree, the First Amendment right to free speech is a cornerstone of America\u2019s Republic. DirecTV is both the largest distributor of OANN and it is one of the only options for live television for many of our constituents. Not only is this a massive blow to the popular news network, but it is a massive blow to our constituents who have come to rely on it as an important source for news and opinions,\u201d the lawmakers continued.<\/p>\n<p>In January, Republican Montana Sen. Steve Daines <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/18\/steve-daines-letter-directv-ceo-reconsider-removing-one-america-news-oan-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sent a letter<\/a> to Morrow calling for him to reconsider the decision and said in many parts of Montana satellite television and DirecTV is the only option for live television.
