Given Disney\u2019s opposition to Gov. Ron Desantis\u2019s Parental Rights in Education Act, and its push to include as \u201cmany, many many LGBTQIA characters in its stories,\u201d he cannot support an extension of its copyrights.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>He wrote to Chapek:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>At home, Disney has capitulated to far-left activists through hypocritical, woke corporate actions. The most recent example is Disney\u2019s public opposition to Florida\u2019s Parental Rights in Education Act, which recently passed Florida\u2019s legislature and was signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis. The law prohibits classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through the 3rd grade, topics which are inappropriate for children that age.<\/p>\n<p>Disney has said it wants this law repealed even though it has broad support among Florida residents, especially parents. A senior Disney employee was recently caught on camera saying she wants \u201cmany, many, many, LGBTQIA characters in our stories.\u201d And according to a Disney employee, Disney\u2019s Diversity Equity and Inclusion Department, \u201cexpanded by an astonishing 633 percent in 2019-21, at the same time that nearly every other department was contracting by 25-75 percent.\u201d This suggests Disney is purposefully influencing small children with political and sexual agenda.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Banks initially discussed this fight on Fox News:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Americans take their kids to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Disney?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Disney<\/a> for family vacation, not indoctrination.<\/p>\n<p>Congress shouldn\u2019t support Disney\u2019s assault on American values.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IngrahamAngle?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@IngrahamAngle<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3J98VdgpNi\">pic.twitter.com\/3J98VdgpNi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jim Banks (@RepJimBanks) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepJimBanks\/status\/1509902610039545862?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 1, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Banks explained that Congress had repeatedly extended Disney\u2019s copyright due to intense lobbying from Disney. Now, Disney could lose its copyright renewal when Republicans are slated to hold the House majority after the 2022 midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>A House Republican majority could galvanize around this fight and block Disney from renewing its Mickey Mouse copyright, which could result in significant revenue loss for the megacorporation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven Disney\u2019s continued work with a Communist Chinese regime that does not respect human rights or U.S. intellectual property and given your desire to influence young children with sexual material inappropriate for their age, I will not support further extensions applicable to your copyrights, which should become public domain,\u201d Banks said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate that Disney, once an American success story has allied with a hostile foreign regime and domestic ideologues who seek to tear our country apart,\u201d he concluded in the letter to Chapek.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><strong><i>Sean Moran is a congressional reporter for Breitbart News.
