Putin was not present when Zelenskyy made the joke.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Zelenskyy was known for his comedy and acting career before he became the Ukrainian president, including his lead role in the television series \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt6235122\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Servant Of The People<\/a>,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/2022\/03\/ukraine-president-zelenskyy-romantic-comedy-movies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vanity Fair<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook video purports to show a young Zelenskyy making a joke in front of Putin during a Russian comedy show in 2002. \u201cCirca 20 years ago today. Zelenskyy made a joke about Putin while he was in the audience on a Russia\u2019s comedy show Putin didn\u2019t applaud,\u201d reads the caption.<\/p>\n<p>While the video does show Zelenskyy making a joke, the clips\u00a0are taken from two different events. A reverse image search revealed the Zelenskyy video is from 2002 and the Putin clip is from 2006. The Zelenskyy clip is from KVN, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2011\/04\/inside-kvn-russias-mega-popular-comedic-talent-show.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">widely-popular<\/a> comedic talent show in Russia, uploaded to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DZQc6n_ro4s&#038;t=4s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> in 2012. Putin is not featured in the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/DZQc6n_ro4s?t=2127\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">original clip<\/a> of the show.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Zelenskyy and his comedy group, Kvartal 95 (Quarter 95), were regulars on the show between 1997 and 2003, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Volodymyr-Zelensky\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Britannica<\/a>.
