Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James <a href=\"https:\/\/ag.ny.gov\/press-release\/2022\/attorney-general-james-and-governor-hochul-issue-statement-redistricting-decision\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> they \u201cintend to appeal\u201d the decision in a joint statement. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/14\/ohio-supreme-court-republican-congressional-map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Court Throws Out Maryland\u2019s Congressional Maps Over Partisan Gerrymandering)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7402286\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7402286\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">New York Attorney General Letitia James speaks at a news conference at union 1199 SEIU headquarters on March 21, 2022 in New York City. Santiago\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Cook Political Report senior editor David Wasserman <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Redistrict\/status\/1509651332965314564\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> that the ruling on the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/30\/new-york-redistricting-congressional-map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">map<\/a>, which would give Democrats a 22D-4R House seat advantage, is likely to be stayed on appeal, as the case will face \u201cless GOP-friendly higher courts\u201d moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDems believe map will remain in place, at least for 2022,\u201d Wasserman <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Redistrict\/status\/1509640172106833923\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a>, but acknowledged the \u201chuge stakes\u201d of the case. Cook Political Report already decreased the number of seats it projected Democrats to gain from redistricting to only one or two on Wednesday after <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/30\/democrats-lose-redistricting-maryland-ohio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">major court decisions<\/a> on maps in Ohio and Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>Wasserman noted the timeline for primary elections would aid the Democratic-favored map, just as it did with the Republican-favored Ohio map that was originally <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/14\/ohio-supreme-court-republican-congressional-map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tossed for gerrymandering<\/a>.
