My behavior at last night\u2019s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada\u2019s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith added that his action were \u201cout of line\u201d and \u201cwrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/lapd-were-prepared-to-arrest-will-smith-for-battery-says-oscars-producer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that police officers were prepared to arrest Smith if necessary:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>According to Oscars producer Will Packer, the Los Angeles Police Department wanted to arrest actor Will Smith for battery after he struck comedian Chris Rock during the Sunday night awards show.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Packer told ABC\u2019s T.J. Holmes in an interview scheduled to air on Friday\u2019s broadcast of \u201cGood Morning America\u201d that police were on the scene and prepared to arrest Smith, but Rock made it clear that he was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/celebs-responds-to-will-smith-hitting-chris-rock-face-over-joke-open-a-criminal-battery-investigation\/\">not interested<\/a>\u00a0in taking any legal action.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A short clip of the upcoming interview aired on Thursday evening\u2019s broadcast of \u201cWorld News Tonight.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c[Police] were saying, you know, this is battery, was a word they used in\u00a0that moment. They said, \u2018We will go get [Smith], we are prepared. We\u2019re\u00a0prepared to get him right now.
