has continued its Green crusade of shutting down hydrocarbon-fueled power plants.<\/p>\n<p>Germany\u2019s green crusade against fossil fuels has continued to march on during what has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/21\/belgium-delays-killing-nuclear-over-chaotic-geopolitical-environment\/\">described<\/a> by other nations as a \u201cchaotic geopolitical context\u201d for energy, with the country taking another hydrocarbon-fueled power station out of service on Friday.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>This is despite the fact that the country is facing down one of the worst energy crises in its recent history, at risk of having the majority of its gas supply cut off <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/30\/germany-suffering-in-the-most-brutal-way-over-russian-gas-addiction-minister\/\">completely<\/a> over tensions with Russia.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/wirtschaft\/unternehmen\/kohleausstieg-trotz-gas-fruehwarnung-rwe-legt-weiteren-braunkohle-kraftwerksblock-still-a-08d1fd8d-0350-4627-a36a-16a1110d2346\">report<\/a> by\u00a0<em>Der Spiegel<\/em>, a lignite powered station in\u00a0Neurath which can generate up to 300 megawatts of power will go offline on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Owned by energy company RWE, the shutdown is reportedly in line with the German government\u2019s coal phase-out programme.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>However, the German multinational has said that the plant will be conserved for a little while longer, which will allow it to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/16\/green-germany-weighs-reopening-coal-power-plants-amid-energy-crisis\/\">brought back online should it be needed.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgainst the background of the current debate about a possible reduction in gas consumption in power generation, RWE will conserve the unit for a short time,\u201d the company reportedly said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe company will for now not implement measures that would threaten a recommissioning, for the eventuality that the government decides the plant is temporarily still needed to ensure security of supply,\u201d Reuters meanwhile also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/sustainable-business\/rwe-shuts-neurath-coal-plant-will-conserve-potential-operation-2022-03-31\/\">notes<\/a> the group as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Neither the Reuters nor\u00a0<em>Der Spiegel\u00a0<\/em>report contains any reference for exactly how long RWE will refrain from implementing measures \u201cthat would threaten a decommissioning\u201d however.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, the German government seems pleased that the plant will be available for a little while longer should the nation desperately need it, with the\u00a0Federal Ministry of brought about by their nation\u2019s crippling addiction to Russian gas.<\/p>\n<p>Receiving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/29\/germanys-addiction-to-russian-gas-sees-energy-prices-double-in-february\/\">55 per cent<\/a> of the fuel from Vladimir Putin\u2019s Russia, the European country\u2019s supply of the essential fuel has since come under threat over Russia\u2019s renewed war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities in the nation-state are now scrambling to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/30\/speculation-of-rationing-as-german-minister-prepares-emergency-measures-over-gas-supply\/\">put in place<\/a> emergency measures to ensure that gas supply to German homes is not disrupted should the country lose access to Russian gas completely, with Moscow previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/24\/putin-attacks-petrodollar-system-demands-unfriendly-european-nations-purchase-gas-in-rubles\/\">threatening<\/a> to sever the supply should Germany refuse to pay for its gas fix in Russian rubles.<\/p>\n<p>However, the country\u2019s leftist Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, has since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/wirtschaft\/russland-ukraine-krieg-fuer-olaf-scholz-bleibt-es-bei-euro-als-bezahlung-fuer-gas-a-07226e57-147f-4e19-907e-bc5a62da7f8d\">claimed<\/a> that he has received assurances from Putin that European companies, including those in Germany, will be able to keep paying for gas in euros and dollars without issue.<\/p>\n<p>Even with this immediate danger abated for now, a number of politicians in the country have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/30\/germany-suffering-in-the-most-brutal-way-over-russian-gas-addiction-minister\/\">lamented<\/a> how the nation\u2019s reliance on Russia could have possibly gotten this bad in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnergy policy is always power policy, is always interest policy, is therefore always security policy,\u201d said the country\u2019s current Economics Minister, Robert Habeck. \u201cAnd if you look back, you almost can\u2019t understand how we could be so blind to overlook that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe knew, or we could have known, that it was not only stupid to place all our security policy cards on just one country, but that it also wasn\u2019t a smart idea to put them on that particular country,\u201d he continued. \u201cWe
