She has not faced a single question about the laptop in a week of revelations.<\/p>\n<p>Though the\u00a0<em>Post<\/em>\u2018s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/30\/hunter-biden-china-laptop\/\">reporting<\/a> came nearly a year and-a-half after the laptop was first reported by the\u00a0<em>New York Post<\/em>, it follows the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/03\/16\/us\/politics\/hunter-biden-tax-bill-investigation.html\">admission<\/a> by the\u00a0<em>New York Times\u00a0<\/em>that the laptop is authentic, and CNN subsequently admitted it was real on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>All of these outlets had helped to suppress the story in October 2020, as well as stories that emerged from it. CNN\u2019s own media \u201cwatchdog,\u201d Brian Stelter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2020-election\/2020\/10\/21\/dont-you-dare-cnns-brian-stelter-defends-media-ethics-on-russia-collusion-hoax\/\">cheered<\/a> efforts by Silicon Valley tech companies to censor the story on social media.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The story had implications for Joe Biden\u2019s presidential campaign. First, an email on the laptop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/10\/14\/nolte-smoking-gun-email-shows-joe-biden-did-meet-with-son-hunters-ukraine-partners\/\">suggested<\/a> that Hunter Biden had arranged a meeting between then-Vice President Biden and an executive from Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company paying Hunter Biden a small fortune to sit on its board. The Bidens\u2019 involvement in Ukraine had been an issue during the impeachment of President Donald Trump, and Biden had previously denied knowledge of his family\u2019s business dealings.<\/p>\n<p>Next, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/10\/22\/biden-whistleblower-emails-chinese-energy-company-gave-5-million-non-secured-forgivable-loan-biden-family\/\">emerged<\/a> that Hunter Biden had attempted to arrange a joint venture with a state-controlled Chinese company, in which he had organized a ten percent stake for \u201cthe big guy,\u201d presumably his father. These details were later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/10\/21\/bombshell-statement-biden-insider-claims-he-was-recipient-of-the-email-says-he-witnessed-joe-hunter-discussing-deals\/\">confirmed<\/a> by Tony Bobulinski, who confirmed that he was a recipient of one of the emails on Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop, and that he was to have been the CEO of the new company, before Hunter Biden took loan money intended for the company and absconded.<\/p>\n<p>Other emails on the laptop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/05\/26\/report-then-vp-joe-biden-met-with-hunter-bidens-foreign-business-associates\/\">confirmed<\/a> earlier reports, by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/10\/20\/photo-joe-biden-meets-hunter-bidens-business-associate-from-kazakhstan\/\">Breitbart News<\/a> and others, that Hunter Biden had introduced his father to his foreign business contacts and used his father\u2019s name to enrich himself while Vice President Biden was in office.<\/p>\n<p>There were also photos, videos, and other documents of a salacious personal nature on the laptop, confirming earlier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/05\/17\/exclusive-2016-arizona-police-report-cocaine-pipe-found-in-car-rented-by-joe-bidens-son-hunter-biden-authorities-declined-to-prosecute\/\">reports<\/a> that Hunter Biden had a serious drug problem, but that law enforcement had declined to prosecute him or to intervene. Text messages on the laptop\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/03\/26\/report-hunter-bidens-texts-contradict-the-secret-service-secret-service-came-on-scene\/\">suggested<\/a> that the U.S. Secret Service may have tried to cover up Hunter Biden\u2019s purchase of a gun, in which he appeared to have lied on paperwork when buying the weapon \u2014 a crime Joe Biden has promised to prosecute.<\/p>\n<p>Other materials appear to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/30\/hunter-biden-china-laptop\/\">implicate<\/a> Joe Biden\u2019s brother, James Biden, in deals with Hunter and foreign entities. Moreover, they suggested that the Biden family finances were intermingled, with Joe Biden benefiting from his family\u2019s businesses.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Biden had previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2019\/08\/28\/biden-brother-business-2020-1476815\">told<\/a> reporters on the campaign trail in South Carolina during the 2020 presidential primary: \u201c\u201cI have never discussed, with my son or my brother or with anyone else, anything having to do with their businesses. Period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Biden campaign denied the authenticity of the laptop, citing an open <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2020\/10\/19\/clapper-brennan-hunter-biden-emails-russian-disinformation-whether-genuine-or-not\/\">letter<\/a> by 50 former U.S. intelligence officials who speculated that the laptop was the product of a Russian disinformation campaign, though they admitted they had no evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Bedingfield herself <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/\">told<\/a> reporters that the story was \u201cRussian misinformation.\u201d In the final presidential debate of the 2020 election, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2020\/10\/23\/debate-transcript-trump-biden-final-presidential-debate-nashville\/3740152001\/\">claimed<\/a> that Trump was lying about the laptop, and that he was part of a \u201cRussian plan\u201d of disinformation.<\/p>\n<p>Only after the election did Hunter Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/12\/09\/report-hunter-biden-investigation-linked-to-chinese-company-in-laptop-emails\/\">admit<\/a> that he had been under investigation over his taxes. The Biden White House continued to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2021\/sep\/24\/jen-psaki-sticks-russian-disinformation-story-afte\/\">claim<\/a> the laptop was misinformation, or that Hunter Biden was a private citizen and it could not comment.<\/p>\n<p>Given that the laptop suggests that Biden may be compromised by his family\u2019s foreign business dealings, and that he lied to the public; and given the role of \u201cmisinformation\u201d in fueling tensions with Russia, the laptop is more relevant than ever.<\/p>\n<p>However, the White House press corps has yet to press the administration about it, even at the cost of its own credibility. Not even the\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomBevanRCP\/status\/1509251931457433601\">asked<\/a> Bedingfield about the laptop Wednesday, on the heels of its own story about its contents.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
