Does he have to say the N word?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt some point, it\u2019s not a \u2018racist comment,&#8217;\u201d he tweeted. \u201cIt\u2019s just a racist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a tweet following the January 6 Capitol Riot, Bedoya called for Republican senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz to resign from their positions.<\/p>\n<p>He <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alvarombedoya\/status\/1365422051704602631?s=20&#038;t=Cy-M7H4AEvDyCZIoSQBCHg\">also called ICE<\/a> an \u201cout-of-control domestic surveillance agency that peers into all our lives\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gregggonsalves\/status\/1426607823434170374\">retweeted<\/a> an August 2021 tweet calling Republican Governors Ron DeSantis of Florida, Greg Abbott of Texas, and Tate Reeves of Mississippi \u201cdeath eaters\u201d over the coronavirus containment policies.<\/p>\n<p>The conservative coalition\u2019s letter to the senate calls Bedoya an \u201cideological, progressive ally,\u201d warning that his confirmation \u201cwould give Chair Lina Khan an even freer hand in transforming the FTC, doing away with its rules, hamstringing businesses with red tape, and dismantling our market-driven economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKhan has come under criticism for pursuing a hyper-regulatory, anti-business agenda, dispensing with the FTC\u2019s precedents and rules along the way,\u201d the letter said, accusing Khan of \u201cusing the \u2018zombie\u2019 votes of former FTC Commissioner Rohit Chopra after he no longer served on the Commission,\u201d of decreasing transparency by \u201cincluding public comments after votes are held,\u201d stopping FTC staff from participating in public events, and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the Commission\u2019s primary function is enforcement, Bedoya\u2019s disregard and distaste for law enforcement functions is concerning,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cIn terms of immigration and \u2018sanctuary cities,&#8217;\u201d Bedoya said, \u201cI think it\u2019s high time that state legislators understand that they can do something about this. \u2026 And already you\u2019ve seen States like New York, like California, New Jersey, pass laws protecting their residents\u2019 data, their residents\u2019 faces from ICE.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bedoya also called for \u201ca focus on political priorities in Biden\u2019s stimulus package rather than support for law enforcement,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n<p>The conservative groups reference Bedoya\u2019s attacks on conservatives, saying that he has a history of \u201cpersonally attacking and supporting attacks on those he disagrees with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe even liked a tweet disparaging Barron Trump,\u201d the letter adds. \u201cThis type of aggressive rhetoric and behavior is inconsistent with the type of temperament required for a commissioner of the FTC.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cBedoya\u2019s confirmation would jeopardize investment and innovation, threaten the already weakening economy, and bring never before seen partisanship to the FTC,\u201d the letter concludes. \u201cFor these and other reasons, we urge Senators to reject Bedoya\u2019s confirmation.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday,\u00a0Vice President Kamala Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/democrats-advance-two-more-radically-progressive-biden-nominees\">cast<\/a> the tie-breaking vote to break a deadlock in the Senate over Bedoya\u2019s nomination.<\/p>\n<p>Bedoya <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/us-senate-votes-move-forward-with-bedoyas-ftc-confirmation-2022-03-30\/\">can now head<\/a> to a confirmation vote, though he did not receive\u00a0enough votes in the committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.senate.gov\/nominations\">recommended favorably,<\/a>\u00a0lacking support from Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate is not expected to vote on confirming Bedoya until after Easter break, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/senate-democrats-look-to-break-deadlock-on-biden-ftc-and-fcc-nominees\/\">has said<\/a> that he wishes to spend the upcoming week focused on Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>Schumer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/senate-democrats-look-to-break-deadlock-on-biden-ftc-and-fcc-nominees\/\">is expected<\/a> to use the same procedural process, the discharge petition, that he used to advance Bedoya\u2019s nomination to again bypass Republican opposition and advance Gigi Sohn, Biden\u2019s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) nominee.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
